Best Tasting Menus Under $200 in Vienna 2026

Tasting menus under $200 per person, ex-drinks · Vienna · 6 ranked · Updated June 2026

Vienna is the rare grand European capital where a one-Michelin-star tasting menu still lands under €185, the rough euro line for $200. Six kitchens prove it, from a tiny modern-Austrian room in Alsergrund to a vegetable temple off the Graben and the city's newest star in Wieden. Prices below are per person before drinks, normalised to the €185 ceiling. Here is who each table suits, what to order, and how to book. Six, ranked on the cooking and the value rather than the menu length.

1.Pramerl & the Wolf

Modern Austrian · Alsergrund · One Michelin star · €170

A one-star corner bistro with a playful surprise menu under the line. Book it for the most personality per euro in Vienna.

Pramerl & the Wolf is Wolfgang Zankl-Sertl's one-star room at Pramergasse 21 in the ninth district, a former corner pub he opened in 2015 and still cooks in himself. The menu is a no-choice surprise built on Austrian produce, with a signature pasta-free carbonara of calamari, smoked eel and Parmesan. The set menu is €170, dropping to €160 for the early seating between six and eight, which keeps a real Michelin dinner comfortably under $200. This is the booking for a couple who want personality and a relaxed room over white-tablecloth formality. Reserve two weeks ahead and trust the kitchen on the menu.

Book direct; take the early seating for the lower price.

2.Tian

Vegetarian · Innere Stadt · One Michelin star · €178 (6 courses)

The city's one-star vegetarian room, and proof meat-free can carry a tasting menu. Book the six-course for the under-$200 line.

Tian is Paul Ivíc's vegetarian fine-dining room at Himmelpfortgasse 23 in the first district, holder of a Michelin star since 2014 and a Green Star for its sustainability. The kitchen builds a produce-led tasting that changes with the season and can run fully vegan on request. The six-course menu is €178, which sits under the €185 line; the eight-course at €189 tips just over, so order the six. This is the booking for anyone who wants to see how far vegetables can go, and for a mixed table where not everyone eats meat. Reserve two weeks ahead and ask for the wine pairing built around the menu.

Book on the Tian site; choose the six-course to stay under the line.

3.Z'SOM

Modern · Wieden · One Michelin star · from €110

Vienna's newest star and its best value, course for course. Book it before the city catches up to the price.

Z'SOM is the Wieden room of chef Diego Briones, who took a Michelin star in 2025 barely two years after opening at Gusshausstrasse 12. His cooking threads Chilean and Austrian ideas together, with a signature of wild prawns with amarillo chilli and a pigeon a la royale. The tasting starts around €79 for four courses and runs to roughly €110 to €130 for six, the strongest value-to-quality ratio of any star in the city. This is the booking for a diner who wants the newest, most exciting table without a grand-restaurant bill. Reserve two to three weeks ahead, as word has spread fast.

Book direct; go for the six-course while the price holds.

4.Herzig

Modern · Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus · One Michelin star · €170 (small menu)

A one-star kitchen in a historic auction house out west, with a short menu under the line. Book it for a quietly serious night.

Herzig holds a Michelin star in the fifteenth district, set in the historic Dorotheum-Fünfhaus building in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, away from the tourist centre. The kitchen cooks a precise modern menu, with a signature Tristan lobster tempura with pumpkin, pear and koji rice. The small menu is €170, which keeps it under $200; the full menu at €190 plus a cover edges over, so the short menu is the play. This is the booking for a diner who wants a serious one-star dinner without the first-district crowds or prices. Reserve a week or two ahead and take the small menu with a glass pairing.

Book on the Herzig site; order the small menu to stay under the line.

5.Jola

Vegan · Innere Stadt · One Michelin star + Green Star · €185

Austria's first vegan fine-dining star, right at the $200 line. Book it for the most adventurous plant cooking in town.

Jola is Jonathan Wittenbrink's first-district room, which opened in March 2022 as Austria's first vegan fine-dining restaurant and now holds a Michelin star and a Green Star. The kitchen runs up to ten plant-based courses, with a signature aubergine-ragout raviolo with courgette, pine nuts and a tomato essence. The full menu is €185, sitting exactly at the euro line for $200, so it qualifies with no room to spare. This is the booking for a diner curious about how far vegan cooking has come, served with confidence and polish. Reserve two weeks ahead and let the team pair it for you.

Book direct; take the wine pairing to round out the menu.

6.Edvard

Modern Austrian · Anantara Palais Hansen · One Michelin star · €160 (5 courses)

A one-star Ringstrasse hotel room whose short menu is a steal. Book the five-course for a grand address at a fair price.

Edvard brings a touch of Ringstrasse grandeur to this list, the one-star room inside the Anantara Palais Hansen at Schottenring 24 in the first district. Chef Paul Gamauf cooks a low-waste, vegetable-forward menu, with a current plate of char with artichoke and nettle. The Carte Blanche is €160 for five courses, which slips under the line and buys you a palais dining room most tasting menus at this price cannot match. This is the booking for a diner who wants a grand setting without a grand bill. Reserve a week or two ahead and take the five-course with a half pairing.

Book on the Edvard site; the five-course is the value order.

Great rooms, over the $200 line

aend (€245) and Konstantin Filippou (€265 and up). Fabian Günzel's one-star surprise menu and Filippou's two-star seafood tasting are among Vienna's best, but both run well past $200, so they belong on a different night. Hold them for when the bill is not the point.

Silvio Nickol (about €325) and Steirereck (€225 to €245). The palace and the park, two and three stars, are the grand tasting occasions. They are worth every euro, just not on an under-$200 brief. A newcomer worth a look at the value end is Addiert, a new 2026 one-star whose nine-course counter menu runs about €170.

How to eat a Michelin tasting under $200 in Vienna

The trick is the menu, not the restaurant. Several kitchens here run a short menu under the line and a longer one over it, so order the six-course at Tian, the small menu at Herzig and the five-course at Edvard to keep a real star dinner under $200. Z'SOM gives you the most courses for the least money, and Pramerl & the Wolf drops its price for the early seating.

Book two to three weeks ahead for the newer stars, Z'SOM above all, where weekend tables go first. Tell the floor if you have dietary needs, since Tian and Jola are vegetable and plant based by design, and ask for a glass or half pairing rather than the full flight if you are watching the total. Set the budget when you book and the room will work inside it.

Frequently asked

Which Vienna restaurant has the best tasting menu under $200?

Pramerl & the Wolf holds our top spot for the money. Chef Wolfgang Zankl-Sertl cooks a one-star surprise menu at 170 euro, dropping to 160 euro for the early seating, with a signature calamari and smoked-eel carbonara. For the best value course for course, Z'SOM in Wieden runs a six-course menu around 110 to 130 euro, the strongest ratio of any star in the city.

Can you eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Vienna for under $200?

Yes, more easily than in most European capitals. Six one-star kitchens on this list keep a tasting menu under the 185-euro line, including Z'SOM from about 110 euro, Edvard at 160 euro for five courses, and Pramerl & the Wolf at 170 euro. The key is to order the shorter menu where a kitchen runs several lengths, as at Tian and Herzig.

Are there good vegetarian or vegan tasting menus in Vienna?

Two of the best on this list are meat-free. Tian, a Michelin star since 2014, is the city's vegetarian room and runs a six-course menu at 178 euro that can go fully vegan on request. Jola, Austria's first vegan fine-dining star, serves up to ten plant-based courses at 185 euro. Both sit under the $200 line and rank among Vienna's most interesting tables.

How far ahead should you book these Vienna restaurants?

Two to three weeks for the newer and smaller rooms, and sooner for weekends. Z'SOM has become hard to book since its 2025 star, and Pramerl & the Wolf and Herzig are small rooms that fill quickly. Reserve directly through each restaurant, mention any dietary needs, and set your budget with the floor so they can pair within it.
