Our commitment
Every restaurant on Restaurants for Kings is selected and reviewed by a named editor, not an algorithm and never in exchange for payment. We hold ourselves accountable for accuracy. This page explains how we check facts before publishing, how we keep pages current, and exactly what to do if you spot an error. It sits alongside our published methodology and our editorial team page.
How we fact-check before publishing
Before a ranking or restaurant page is published, the reviewing editor verifies the load-bearing facts — Michelin or World's 50 Best status, head chef, address, price band, and opening status — against primary sources: the venue's own site and reservation system, the official Michelin Guide, and the restaurant directly where needed. A second editor signs off on inclusions and scores. Where a claim cannot be verified to that standard, it is removed rather than estimated.
Sourcing and citations
Factual claims about awards, stars, ownership, and closures are tied to authoritative, primary references. We prefer the source closest to the fact — the awarding body, the restaurant, or the operator — over secondary aggregation. When a restaurant has closed, relocated, lost or gained a star, or changed chef, we update the affected pages and reflect the change in our rankings.
Dates and freshness
Each ranking page shows a visible "Updated" date and carries a machine-readable datePublished and dateModified in its structured data. These dates are real: they move only when the page's content is actually reviewed or revised, never on an automated schedule to appear fresh. Pages are re-reviewed on a rolling basis, and any page touched by a closure or award change is re-dated at that point.
How to report an error
If anything on this site is wrong — a price, an address, a closure, a chef change, a star, or a name — email [email protected] with the page URL and the correct information. Substantive corrections (closures, ownership changes, inaccurate prices, award changes) are published within 72 hours, with a timestamped correction note at the foot of the affected page. Minor fixes such as typos are made without a published note.
What a published correction looks like
When we correct a material error after publication, we keep a dated note at the bottom of the page describing what changed and when, so the record is transparent. We do not silently rewrite history on the facts that matter.
Independence and disclosure
No restaurant has ever paid, or can pay, for inclusion, a ranking position, or a score. Sponsored content, where it exists, is labelled Partner Content and sits outside the editorial ranking grid. Affiliate reservation links (for example OpenTable or Resy) may earn a commission at no cost to you and never influence rankings. Where a restaurant knowingly extends hospitality on an assessment visit, the relationship is disclosed on the relevant review.
