Nineteen hundred ranked lists sit behind this page, across 161 cities and 21 ways to eat. Each one answers a single decision, where to take a first date in Lisbon, where to close a deal in Singapore, where to find a cellar deep enough to matter in Zurich, and each one names who the list is wrong for, not only who it suits. This is the full directory. Pick a city, pick an occasion, and the list you need is one click away.
No other guide ranks dining this way. The Michelin Guide, the World's 50 Best and The Infatuation rank rooms; this index ranks rooms against an occasion and tells you who each table is wrong for. Use it when you already know the night you are planning and need the one table that fits it.
The worldwide lists
Eighteen global rankings sit above the city directory, each pulling the best tables on earth for one setting or one occasion. Start here if you are choosing a destination rather than a night out at home.

Who this index is not for
Not for diners who want one national "best restaurant" verdict.
This index is built the opposite way, by city and by occasion, so if you want a single ranked list of the fifty best restaurants on earth with no regard for the night you are planning, the World's 50 Best does that job better. It is also not a booking engine: every list points you to the venue's own page and its booking mechanics, but Restaurants for Kings does not take reservations. And it is not a deals site. The prices quoted are what the kitchens charge, not discounts.
Questions diners ask
How many restaurant rankings does Restaurants for Kings publish?
Restaurants for Kings publishes more than 1,890 ranked lists for 2026, covering 161 cities and twenty-one occasions, from first dates and proposals to rooftops, wine lists and tables inside hotels. Each list ranks six real venues in order and names who the list is wrong for. New cities and occasions are added through the year, so the total keeps growing.
How are the rankings ordered and who writes them?
Every ranking is compiled and ordered by the Restaurants for Kings editorial team, not a single named critic. The team works from published authorities such as the Michelin Guide, the World's 50 Best, James Beard and named local critics, then cross-checks each venue's own published details for chef, signature dish, price and address before ordering the six.
How often are the rankings updated?
Each list carries its own last-updated date, shown beside it in this index. The editorial team re-checks every ranking on a quarterly schedule for closures, chef changes, relocations and price moves, and re-publishes the date only when a real edit has been made. The most-read city and occasion lists are reviewed more often than that.
Can I filter the rankings by city or occasion?
Yes. Use the search box and the city and occasion menus at the top of this page to narrow the directory, for example every ranking in Tokyo, or every first-date list across all cities. Each result links straight to that 2026 list, where the six venues are ranked with the chef, the dish, the price and the street for each.
Which ranking should I use for a specific occasion?
Pick the occasion first. If you are closing a deal, start with the impress-clients or close-a-deal list for your city; for a romantic night, the first-date, anniversary or proposal list. Each one is built around that single decision and names the venues that fit it, and the ones that do not, rather than ranking rooms in the abstract.
Restaurants for Kings earns affiliate commission on some reservations and bookings made through partner links. It does not change how the editorial team ranks a venue or orders a list. Scoring, sourcing and the paid-versus-earned policy are set out in our methodology.
