Best Rooftop Restaurants in Berlin 2026
Six Berlin rooms at altitude, honestly labelled - only two are restaurants, and they are the two worth booking.
Berlin's best rooftop is a Michelin-starred restaurant on top of a business hotel in Lichtenberg, a district most visitors never set foot in. That fact tells you what is wrong with every other rooftop list for this city. Berlin is flat, low and short on towers, so its celebrated rooftops are mostly bars pitched on the decks of shopping-centre car parks. The view is real; the food is an afterthought. The six rooms below are ranked on whether the kitchen earns the lift ride, and only two of them are restaurants in the strict sense. The rest are where Berliners actually drink at altitude, and we have labelled them as such.
1.SKYKITCHEN
Modern European · Lichtenberg · tasting from ~€175
SKYKITCHEN is on the 12th floor of the Vienna House Andel's on Landsberger Allee in Lichtenberg, an eastern district few tourists reach, with a wall of glass over the rooftops and the television tower in the distance.
It has held a Michelin star every year since 2014 and serves multi-course tasting menus from about €175, Wednesday to Saturday. This is the one Berlin rooftop where the kitchen, not the view, is the reason to come, so reserve well ahead.
Book it for the best food at height in the city, by a distance. | Skip it if you want something casual or walk-in.
2.NENI Berlin
Eastern Mediterranean · City West, Charlottenburg · ~€45
NENI sits on the 10th floor of the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin in City West, looking straight over the Tiergarten and the Zoo, with the Monkey Bar attached for cocktails before or after the table.
The kitchen is Eastern Mediterranean, served as sharing plates at around €45 a head. Book a window over the Tiergarten, and head to the Monkey Bar side for a drink once the sun drops behind the Gedaechtniskirche.
Book it for a relaxed rooftop dinner with the best green view in town. | Skip it if you want a quiet table away from a busy bar.
3.Solar
Modern European · Kreuzberg · ~€40
Solar occupies the 16th and 17th floors of a tower in Kreuzberg near Potsdamer Platz, with a restaurant on the lower floor and a bar above, reached by an exterior glass lift that climbs the side of the building.
The restaurant serves modern European plates at around €40 a head, with a 270-degree view over the city. It opens evenings, Wednesday to Saturday, so book a window table on the 16th floor if you are there to eat rather than only drink.
Book it for a high view and a real dinner near Potsdamer Platz. | Skip it if you are uneasy in an exterior glass lift.
4.The Gallery Rooftop Bar
International small plates · Friedrichshain · ~€25
The Gallery is the rooftop bar on the 8th floor of the Hotel Indigo Berlin at the East Side Gallery in Friedrichshain, with an open terrace looking over the Oberbaumbruecke and the bend of the Spree.
The food is small plates at around €25 a head, more bar than restaurant, but the bridge view at sunset is among the best in the east. Go early evening for an outdoor table before it fills with after-work drinkers.
Book it for a sunset terrace over the river and the Oberbaumbruecke. | Skip it if you want a full sit-down dinner.
5.Klunkerkranich
Roof garden and street food · Neukoelln · ~€15
Klunkerkranich is the roof garden on top of the Neukoelln Arcaden car park, reached through the shopping centre and up a service lift, with plants, deckchairs and the widest sunset panorama in the city.
It runs on rotating street food and cold beer at around €15, with live music and DJs through the summer. This is a bar and a hangout, not a restaurant, but no rooftop in Berlin does the sunset better.
Book it for the best free sunset view in Berlin with a drink. | Skip it if you want a proper dinner rather than street food.
6.Deck5
Beach bar · Prenzlauer Berg · ~€12
Deck5 sits on the roof of the Schoenhauser Allee Arcaden car park in Prenzlauer Berg, a summer beach bar with real sand underfoot, deckchairs and a long view north over the district's rooftops.
Expect burgers, snacks and cocktails at around €12, not a kitchen to plan an evening around. Come for a casual sundowner with sand between your toes, and eat dinner somewhere with a table afterwards.
Book it for a casual, sandy sundowner above the city. | Skip it if you are dressing up or want a served meal.
Avoid for a rooftop dinner
Rooftop bars that call themselves restaurants. Most Berlin rooftop 'restaurants' serve a short bar menu. If you want a proper dinner at altitude, the real list is two rooms long - SKYKITCHEN and NENI - and we have ranked the rest honestly as bars.
Klunkerkranich and Deck5 on a Saturday night. Both are wonderful at six on a weekday and a crushing queue after dark on weekends. Go early or skip the wait; the magic is the light, not the line.
House of Weekend for dinner. The Alexanderplatz rooftop is a nightclub with a view, not a kitchen. Come for the terrace and a drink at sunset, and eat your meal beforehand somewhere that takes a reservation.
Booking a Berlin rooftop
Berlin rooftops are seasonal and weather-bound except the enclosed restaurants. SKYKITCHEN and NENI take normal reservations - book SKYKITCHEN two to three weeks out for its Wednesday-to-Saturday dinner, and NENI a week ahead, asking for a window over the Tiergarten. Solar runs evenings only, Wednesday to Saturday, so ride the glass lift up and ask for a 16th-floor window if you are eating rather than drinking. The car-park roofs - Klunkerkranich, Deck5 - are walk-in only, free or near-free to enter, and fill from late afternoon in summer, running roughly April to September before the cold shuts them. For any sunset table, aim for about thirty minutes before the listed time, when the low light catches the television tower.Frequently asked
What is the best rooftop restaurant in Berlin?
SKYKITCHEN, the Michelin-starred room on the 12th floor of the Vienna House Andel's in Lichtenberg, is the only true rooftop restaurant in the city cooking at that level, with tasting menus from about €175. For a more relaxed dinner, NENI on the 10th floor of the 25hours Hotel in City West, over the Tiergarten. Both are ranked above.
Does Berlin have rooftop restaurants with a view?
A few, but fewer than its reputation suggests. Berlin is a low, flat city, so most celebrated rooftops are bars built on shopping-centre car parks - Klunkerkranich in Neukoelln, Deck5 in Prenzlauer Berg. For a high view with a real kitchen, SKYKITCHEN, NENI and Solar are the three to book.
How much does a Berlin rooftop cost?
Anywhere from about €12 for drinks and a snack on a car-park roof to €175 and up for the SKYKITCHEN tasting menu. NENI runs around €45, Solar near €40, the Hotel Indigo Gallery bar around €25. The free roofs charge only for what you eat and drink.
When is rooftop season in Berlin?
Roughly April to September for the open roofs. Klunkerkranich, Deck5 and the Gallery's terrace depend on dry weather and close in the cold. SKYKITCHEN, NENI and Solar's restaurant floor are indoors behind glass and run year-round, so winter rooftop dining in Berlin means a warm room with a view.
Do you need a reservation for a Berlin rooftop?
For the restaurants, yes - book SKYKITCHEN two to three weeks ahead and NENI a week out, and reserve a Solar dinner table for Wednesday to Saturday. The car-park roofs are walk-in only and take no bookings, so arrive before sunset on a summer weekend or expect a queue.
Which Berlin rooftop has the best view?
Klunkerkranich's car-park garden in Neukoelln has the widest, most-loved sunset panorama in the city, though it is a bar, not a restaurant. For a view with dinner, the Hotel Indigo Gallery bar frames the Oberbaumbruecke and the Spree, and NENI looks over the Tiergarten and the Zoo from City West.
