The Verdict
Al Qasr Restaurant operates from the top floor of Al Qasr Hotel, one of Sharjah's established luxury hotels on the Buhairah Corniche, with sweeping views over the Buhairah (Khalid) Lagoon and the downtown Sharjah skyline. The restaurant has served as the hotel's principal fine-dining room for over a decade and is the most reliable choice in the emirate for a formal Middle Eastern meal in a traditional hotel-restaurant register.
The menu is organised across the broader Middle East rather than narrowly Emirati. A substantial mezze selection — hummus, muhammara, baba ghanoush, a Levantine-style mouhamara variation — is served either à la carte or as a shared starter platter. Grilled mains lean classical: mixed grill, shish tawook, slow-cooked lamb ouzi (served tableside out of a saffron-rice mound), and a daily-changing selection of Emirati specialties including machboos (spiced rice with meat), harees (wheat-and-meat porridge), and the Emirati fish preparations when local catch allows.
The dining room is formal — white linen, Arabian decorative pieces, a central fountain feature, and a small stage used some evenings for a traditional oud performance. Service is attentive and moves at the deliberate pace expected of a full-service Sharjah hotel room. The juice programme — fresh fruit-and-herb combinations, tamarind-based refreshers, the celebrated jallab — is unusually accomplished, which is relevant in a hotel where alcohol service is available to non-Muslim guests but the juice menu remains the centrepiece of the beverage programme.
Al Qasr is a favourite of Sharjah's governmental and diplomatic clientele and regularly hosts the emirate's quiet business dinners. Reservations are easier to secure than at Casa Samak or Berenjak; the upper terrace, when weather permits (October–April), is the room to ask for.
Why It Works for Impress Clients
Al Qasr Restaurant is the Sharjah client-dinner choice when the meeting is with Gulf counterparts who want a Middle Eastern menu in a formal register. The hotel pedigree, the lagoon view, the tableside ouzi service, and the quiet deliberation of the room together communicate the seriousness the evening requires.
