It sits on the Stadsgårdshamnen quay on Södermalm, on the top floor of the photography museum, with a wall of glass facing across the harbour to Skeppsholmen and the old city. Skip these if the food matters as much as the panorama
A view is not a meal. Two of Stockholm's most photographed rooms are easy to recommend for a drink and hard to recommend for dinner. Himlen, the bar and dining room on the 26th floor of the Skrapan tower in Södermalm, has the widest sweep over the city and a kitchen that does not come close to the rooms ranked above; go up for a cocktail at sunset and eat elsewhere. The seasonal summer terraces of Strandvägen sell the waterfront address and the passing boats, but the cooking is brasserie-standard at a tourist markup. If the night is about the food, book Aira or Oaxen Krog and accept that the best view in the room is the plate.
