"A produce-led modern Swedish table — book Lux Dag för Dag for Henrik Norström's daily lakeside menu on Lilla Essingen."
About Lux Dag för Dag
Lux Dag för Dag is a family-run table at Primusgatan 116 on the waterfront island of Lilla Essingen in Stockholm. Chef Henrik Norström and his wife Lotta opened it as Lux in 2003, won a Michelin star a year later and held it until 2013, when they chose to drop the formality and reopen as Dag för Dag — “day by day” — a produce-led fine-dining kitchen at a friendlier price. Norström took Bocuse d'Or silver in 2001.
The Kitchen
Chef Henrik Norström writes the menu fresh each day around whatever produce is at its best — in his phrase, from soil to table. It runs as a sequence of smaller dishes that move from classic Swedish notes to influences from further afield: buck in hunting season, fennel just after harvest, plums when they are ripest, fresh-landed fish. There is a thoughtful wine list and a relaxed, ingredient-first sensibility. A multi-course dinner sits in the upper-mid ($$$) bracket, gentle value for a kitchen with a starred past.
The Room
The room is calm and unshowy, with windows to the water and a warm, family-run feel rather than fine-dining ceremony — the point of the 2013 reinvention. Service is knowledgeable and easy-going, happy to walk you through a daily menu that may be different tomorrow. It sits a little off the tourist track on Lilla Essingen, which is part of the charm; reserve ahead for dinner and ask for a table by the windows.
Best for an anniversary
For an anniversary, a relaxed first date or a considered business lunch, Lux Dag för Dag fits: serious cooking without the stiffness, a waterside room and a daily menu that rewards a return visit. A natural anniversary and first-date table, and a calm business lunch by the water.
Not for
Not for a grand white-tablecloth occasion or a fixed à la carte — Lux changes its menu daily, on a quiet residential island off central Stockholm.
