Perth runs on coffee and a long weekend breakfast, and the city's cafe culture is its own export. From a Northbridge institution to a beachfront room at North Fremantle, these six, ranked, are where to spend a Saturday morning when the table matters as much as the flat white.
1.Sayers Sister
Perth's longest-standing brunch institution, kedgeree croquettes and salmon gravlax in Northbridge; walk in, no weekend bookings.
Sayers Sister at 236 Lake Street is the dedicated brunch room in the city's brunch heartland, open Tuesday to Sunday from seven. The kedgeree croquettes in turmeric-coconut sauce and the lime-and-tequila salmon gravlax are the plates that built its name, with brunch mains around 24 to 32 dollars.
It does not take weekend bookings, so it is a walk-up, and the queue is part of the ritual. It is the most consistently acclaimed sit-down brunch in Perth, which is why it leads.
2.Bib & Tucker
The best beachfront brunch in Perth, buttermilk banana pancakes on Leighton Beach with a bottomless option; book a window table.
Bib & Tucker sits on Leighton Beach Boulevard in North Fremantle, an all-day room built around the water. Breakfast runs Tuesday to Sunday from eight, and the buttermilk banana pancakes and fried-chicken roti anchor a menu in the 22 to 30 dollar range.
There is a bottomless brunch option and a proper ocean view, which makes it the city's best beachfront table. Book ahead for a window seat at the weekend.
3.Hylin
Brothers Josh and Ryan McGinnity's architect-designed room for breakfast burritos and Reuben bagels; the city's buzziest brunch.
Hylin at 178 Railway Parade in West Leederville is run by brothers Josh and Ryan McGinnity, named after New York's High Line. The kitchen plates breakfast burritos, Reuben bagels and acai bowls, with most items around 18 to 28 dollars and coffee by Micrology.
The design-forward room and attached Back Bar make it one of Perth's most-talked-about brunch spots. Come on a weekday for the calm, or expect a wait on Saturday.
4.Mary Street Bakery
A cult Beaufort Street bakery for all-day brunch and housemade doughnuts; open seven days, easy to walk in.
Mary Street Bakery at 507 Beaufort Street in Highgate is the brunch-and-bakery destination on the Mount Lawley strip, open seven days from seven. The all-day breakfast runs alongside housemade doughnuts, pastries and bread baked on site.
It has grown to six locations across Western Australia, but the Beaufort Street room is the original draw. Brunch mains sit around 18 to 28 dollars, and a weekday morning is the easy time to go.
5.Chu Bakery
A French-Asian bakery across from Hyde Park for whipped-feta avocado toast and choux; pastry-forward, takeaway-leaning.
Chu Bakery sits at 498 William Street in Highgate, across from Hyde Park, open Tuesday to Sunday from seven. The smashed avocado with whipped feta and sriracha and the hummus-cucumber toast share the counter with eclairs and choux, most plates around 12 to 20 dollars.
It is more bakery than full brunch service, which is why it sits below the sit-down rooms. For a pastry-forward grazing morning by the park, it is the best in the city.
6.Toastface Grillah
A laneway CBD institution for gourmet grilled-cheese toasties; the casual end of Perth brunch, easy and cheap.
Toastface Grillah started in Wolf Lane and now runs from 143 Barrack Street in the CBD, open from seven on weekdays and later through the weekend. The gourmet grilled-cheese toasties are the whole point, most around 12 to 18 dollars.
It is a niche toastie specialist rather than a full brunch menu, which lands it last here. For a cheap, fast, beloved laneway breakfast in the city centre, it is the move.
Not for everyone
Famous, but not the brunch call
Odyssea. The beloved City Beach brunch room served its last in April 2025 after a nine-year run; the site is now Bert's, a different seafood-led venue. Anyone searching the old name should redirect.
Telegram Coffee. The State Buildings espresso bar is excellent for a flat white, but it is a coffee room with almost no brunch food and it closes at the weekend. Wrong call for a sit-down morning.
Stimulatte. The once-popular ethical-produce cafe has closed; its sister venue Someday Coffee Co in Floreat is the surviving room. Do not plan a morning around the old address.
How to brunch well in Perth
Perth brunch clusters by suburb: Northbridge for the institutions, West Leederville and Highgate for the buzzy modern rooms, and North Fremantle for the beachfront. None needs a car if you ride the train, though the beach spots reward a drive.
The destination rooms skew walk-up, so Sayers Sister and Mary Street Bakery mean a weekend queue. For a booked table with a view, Bib & Tucker on Leighton Beach is the one to reserve; for the quiet, go on a weekday.
