Best Restaurants Open Late in Copenhagen 2026

Kitchens serving to 23:00 and beyond · Copenhagen · 6 ranked · Updated June 2026

Compiled by the Restaurants for Kings editorial team · Published June 18, 2026 · Updated June 21, 2026 · Reviewed by Fredrik Filipsson, Editor-in-Chief · How we rank · Corrections

Kodbyens Fiskebar takes its last food order at 23:00 every night of the week, which in Copenhagen makes it the exception rather than the rule. Most of the city's kitchens close by 22:00, so a genuinely late meal here means knowing the handful of rooms that keep cooking. We checked the kitchen-close time at each, not just the bar hours. Here is who serves real food late, what to order, and how late you can actually sit down. Six, ranked on the cooking, how late the kitchen runs, and value.

1.Kodbyens Fiskebar

Seafood · Kodbyen · Kitchen to 23:00 daily

The most reliable late kitchen in Copenhagen, full a la carte seafood to 23:00 seven nights. The first call for a late dinner.

Kodbyens Fiskebar holds the old Meatpacking District at Flaesketorvet 100, and its kitchen serves to 23:00 every night of the week, the room staying open past midnight. This is upscale seafood, the moules frites and a tray of oysters the orders to make, mains around 175 to 245 kroner, and it is listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide. No other serious kitchen in the city runs this late this consistently. Book ahead on a weekend, then take a late table when everywhere else has stopped cooking.

Reserve Kodbyens Fiskebar direct; take a 22:30 booking and order the oysters and moules.

2.Bistro Royal

French brasserie · Kongens Nytorv · Open to midnight

An all-day Madklubben brasserie on Kongens Nytorv serving dinner past 23:00. The dependable late steak frites.

Bistro Royal is the Madklubben group's brasserie on Kongens Nytorv, an all-day room that takes late seatings at 20:30 and 21:00 and keeps serving until it closes at midnight on weeknights and 02:00 on weekends. The kitchen runs French-Danish, the steak frites and seafood the things to order, mains roughly 165 to 265 kroner. It is central, busy and reliable for a proper dinner when the hour is late. Book the latest seating online and ask the floor how long the kitchen will run.

Reserve Bistro Royal direct; take the 21:00 seating and order the steak frites.

3.Pluto

Shared plates · Indre By · Kitchen to 00:00

A buzzy Bib Gourmand bistro whose kitchen runs to midnight on weeknights. Take it for late, shared, lively plates.

Pluto on Borgergade in Indre By is a loud, popular bistro that cooks until midnight from Monday to Thursday and to 02:00 on Friday and Saturday. The format is small and large plates to share, with a 12-course run at 450 kroner if you want the kitchen to lead, and it carries a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide. This is the late table for a group that wants energy and good cooking rather than a quiet room. Book a later slot and order in waves as the night runs on.

Reserve Pluto direct; take a 21:30 table and let the kitchen send plates in waves.

4.Sanchez

Mexican · Vesterbro · Kitchen to 23:00

Rosio Sanchez's Vesterbro taqueria, kitchen to 23:00 most nights and midnight on weekends. The late pick for tacos done properly.

Sanchez on Istedgade in Vesterbro is the restaurant from Rosio Sanchez, a former noma pastry chef, and its kitchen serves to 23:00 from Sunday to Thursday and to midnight on Friday and Saturday. The tacos are built on house-nixtamalized heirloom-corn masa, the five-dish Sanchez Menu the way to order, plates roughly 60 to 150 kroner each, with a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide. This is a late dinner with real cooking behind it rather than a fallback. Sit at the bar if the room is full.

Reserve Sanchez direct; order the Sanchez Menu and a mezcal flight late.

5.Salon 39

Cocktail bar & kitchen · Frederiksberg · Open to 00:00

A chef-run cocktail bar in Frederiksberg with a full kitchen to midnight. Take it for one of the city's best late burgers.

Salon 39 on Vodroffsvej in Frederiksberg was founded by a Michelin-trained chef and a trained bartender, and the kitchen runs alongside the bar to midnight Tuesday to Thursday and 02:00 on weekends. The burger is widely called one of the best in town, with oysters and ribeye also on the late menu, plates around 165 to 195 kroner. It is closed Sunday and Monday, so check the night. This is the late table for serious cocktails and a proper plate of food at the same time.

Reserve Salon 39 direct; order the burger and let the bar build a late cocktail.

6.Host

Modern Nordic · Indre By · Late second seating

A Cofoco Nordic room with a 21:15 second seating that runs past 23:00. The late pick for a full menu, not a snack.

Host on Norre Farimagsgade in Indre By is a Cofoco restaurant whose late 21:15 seating puts a full three- or five-course Nordic menu on the table well past 23:00. The celeriac with truffle and aged Vesterhavsost is a signature, the menus 395 and 495 kroner with pairings, and it is listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide. The caveat is the format: this is a late sit-down dinner you book, not a 23:00 walk-up order. Take the later seating when you want a real meal at the end of the night.

Reserve Host direct; book the 21:15 seating and take the five-course menu.

Not for a late kitchen

Late bar, early kitchen

Apollo Bar. The room in the Charlottenborg courtyard has a late-night feel, but its kitchen closes at 22:00 from Wednesday to Saturday and at 15:00 earlier in the week, so after about 22:30 it is drinks and a few snacks only. Go for an early dinner and a nightcap, but do not count on a real plate of food at 23:00.

Llama. The Latin American room looks like a late bet and pours to 01:00, but the last kitchen seating is 21:45, after which it turns to a DJ and drinks. The food is good early; it is not a late kitchen. Several beer halls in the Meatpacking District run the same way, so check the kitchen-close time, not the bar hours.

How to eat late in Copenhagen

The rule in Copenhagen is to check the kitchen-close time rather than the closing time, because plenty of rooms pour until 01:00 but stop cooking at 21:45 or 22:00. Of the six here, Kodbyens Fiskebar is the only one taking a true a la carte order at 23:00 seven nights a week, so it is the safe default; Bistro Royal and Pluto run their kitchens to midnight, and Sanchez and Salon 39 to 23:00 or midnight depending on the night.

Book the latest seating the site offers and confirm with the floor how long the kitchen will run, especially midweek. For a full menu rather than a snack, Host's 21:15 seating is the move. The wider Copenhagen restaurant guide lists the earlier kitchens if you are eating at a normal hour.

Frequently asked

Which Copenhagen restaurants serve food after 11pm?

Kodbyens Fiskebar takes a full seafood order until 23:00 seven nights a week, the most reliable late kitchen in the city. Bistro Royal and Pluto run their kitchens to midnight on weeknights, and Sanchez and Salon 39 serve to 23:00 or later depending on the night. Most other Copenhagen kitchens close by 22:00, so these are the rooms to know for a genuinely late dinner.

Where can you eat late on a weeknight in Copenhagen?

On a weeknight, Kodbyens Fiskebar serves to 23:00, Bistro Royal and Pluto to midnight, and Host runs a 21:15 seating that pushes a full menu past 23:00. Sanchez serves to 23:00 Sunday to Thursday. Salon 39 cooks to midnight but is closed Sunday and Monday, so check the night. Book the latest seating offered and confirm the kitchen hours when you reserve.

Does Copenhagen have late-night dining?

It does, but it is limited. Copenhagen kitchens mostly close by 22:00, so late-night dining means a handful of specific rooms: Kodbyens Fiskebar to 23:00 daily, Bistro Royal and Pluto to midnight, and a few others to 23:00 or beyond on weekends. Many bars pour much later but stop serving food early, so always check the kitchen-close time rather than the closing time.

Is Kodbyens Fiskebar open late?

Yes. Kodbyens Fiskebar in the Meatpacking District serves its full seafood menu until 23:00 every night of the week, with the room open past midnight. It is the most dependable late kitchen in Copenhagen, listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide, with moules frites and oysters the orders to make and mains around 175 to 245 kroner. Book ahead on a weekend for a late table.

What time do Copenhagen kitchens usually close?

Most Copenhagen kitchens stop taking food orders around 21:30 to 22:00, even where the bar stays open later. That is why a late dinner needs planning: only a few rooms, led by Kodbyens Fiskebar at 23:00 daily, cook genuinely late. Always confirm the last food seating when you book, since bar hours and kitchen hours often differ by an hour or two.
