"A circular rooftop over Katara Beach where chef Andreé Núñez grills for the Gulf view — book it for a sunset birthday."
About Boho Social
The room is a glass drum set on the roof of Katara Beach Club, and the seats worth having face west over the Arabian Gulf at sunset. Boho Social has worked this rooftop off Shakespeare Street since 2016, with interiors by the designer Paul Bishop and a kitchen under Andreé Fabián Núñez that pulls from the Americas, Asia and the Mediterranean. The burrata flatbread and the braised beef short ribs are the plates regulars order without looking at the menu. Plan on about QR 200 a head.
The Kitchen
Andreé Fabián Núñez runs a menu built for sharing rather than for a single national flag. The flatbread is the signature: thick, chewy dough under creamy burrata, chilli and rocket, torn at the table. The braised beef short ribs come off the bone into a moat of parsnip purée, and the Norwegian salmon is seared hard and served pink. There is sushi and there is ceviche, because the format is a long table and a lot of small plates rather than a fixed tasting menu.
À la carte mains run roughly QR 55 to QR 95; the set sharing menus land between QR 150 and QR 250, so a full dinner sits around QR 200 a person before drinks. The address is the roof of Katara Beach Club, off Shakespeare Street inside Katara Cultural Village, and the circular dining room and mezzanine lounges have been a fixture of Doha's rooftop scene since the room opened in 2016 with Paul Bishop's bohemian fit-out. The Room
The dining room is a true circle, glass on most sides, so the Gulf does the decorating. Lighting is low and warm after dark, with lanterns and a lot of rattan and brass from Paul Bishop's design. Sound climbs on weekend nights once the DJ starts, so it runs from conversation-easy early to loud later. Tables are generously spaced inside, and the terrace plus three mezzanine lounges give you room to spread out. Dress is smart: no shorts, collared shirts for men, the standard for a Katara rooftop. Ask for the terrace edge for the sunset.
Best for a Birthday
Book Boho Social for a birthday because the room is built for a group with something to celebrate: the three mezzanine lounges seat a party in private, the sharing menus mean nobody studies a bill line by line, and the Gulf sunset gives you a backdrop without paying for a set menu you don't want. Order the flatbreads and short ribs for the table, time the booking for golden hour, and let the DJ carry the night. A party of eight to twelve fits the lounges well. Not for
Not for a quiet dinner for two after nine on a weekend, when the DJ turns the circular room loud enough that you lean in just to be heard.
Frequently Asked
Is Boho Social worth it?
Yes, if you come for the setting as much as the food. The rooftop circle over Katara Beach Club, the Gulf views and Paul Bishop's interiors are the draw, and chef Andreé Fabián Núñez backs them with solid sharing plates like the burrata flatbread and braised short ribs. At about QR 200 a head you are paying partly for the view, which is fair for a special night. See the Doha dining guide for alternatives.
How much does Boho Social cost?
Around QR 200 per person before drinks. À la carte mains run roughly QR 55 to QR 95, starters QR 25 to QR 55, and the set sharing menus sit between QR 150 and QR 250. Drinks are non-alcoholic, in line with Katara, which keeps the bill lower than a comparable rooftop elsewhere. It is mid-to-upper range for Doha rather than fine-dining money, and the view is part of what you pay for.
What should I order at Boho Social?
Start with the burrata flatbread, the dish the kitchen is known for: chewy dough, creamy burrata, chilli and rocket. Add the braised beef short ribs with parsnip purée and the seared Norwegian salmon, then pull a few sushi or ceviche plates for the table. The format rewards ordering wide and sharing rather than one plate each, so build a spread for the group.
Is Boho Social good for a birthday?
Yes. The three private mezzanine lounges, the sharing-style menu and the Arabian Gulf sunset make it one of the better rooftop celebrations in Doha. Book a lounge for a group of eight to twelve, time it for golden hour, and order flatbreads and short ribs for the table. For other ideas, see the best restaurants for a birthday.
