San Diego brunches on the coast: a soufflé pancake in Little Italy, an orange-scented Coast Toast over La Jolla Cove, a jazz brunch twelve floors above Balboa Park. The city's best weekend rooms trade on the view as much as the plate. These seven, ranked, are where to spend a Saturday morning when the table matters as much as the coffee.
1.Morning Glory
San Diego's most photographed brunch room, a theatrical Little Italy space built on Japanese soufflé pancakes; come early, there are no reservations.
Morning Glory runs a theatrical all-day breakfast room at 550 West Date Street in Little Italy from the Consortium Holdings group. The Japanese-style soufflé pancakes run about USD 17 and are the dish to order.
The pink-and-mirrors room is the most photographed brunch in the city and it appears in the MICHELIN Guide. There are no reservations for the main weekend rush, so come early or expect a wait.
2.George's at the Cove
The marquee La Jolla ocean-view brunch, a three-course coastal menu on a rooftop terrace over the Cove; reserve the Ocean Terrace.
Trey Foshee runs the kitchen at George's at the Cove, the three-level coastal California room at 1250 Prospect Street overlooking La Jolla Cove, with executive chef Masa Kojima and pastry chef Aly Lyng. The three-course brunch runs USD 50 per person, USD 25 for children twelve and under.
The rooftop Ocean Terrace gives an unobstructed view over the Cove, and the room celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2024. This is the destination waterfront brunch in La Jolla, so reserve the terrace.
3.Cesarina
A rare Italian-trattoria brunch in Point Loma built on a lemon-ricotta waffle and daily pasta; book the weekend table for something different.
Cesarina Mezzoni opened Cesarina in Point Loma at 4161 Voltaire Street in 2019 with Niccolò Angius and Giuseppe Capasso, an authentic Italian trattoria that runs a weekend brunch with bottomless drinks. The lemon ricotta and raspberry waffle is the signature brunch plate.
It holds a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand and made OpenTable's 2026 Top 100 Brunch in the U.S. The fresh daily pasta program sets it apart from the egg-and-pancake rooms, so book it when you want an Italian morning.
4.Mister A's
A twelfth-floor jazz brunch over Balboa Park from a 1965 institution; reserve the window for the skyline-view weekend table.
Mister A's has run on the twelfth floor at 2550 Fifth Avenue in Bankers Hill since 1965, a contemporary French-American room under longtime proprietor Bertrand Hug. The weekend jazz brunch runs Saturday from 10 to 1 and Sunday from 10 to 2.
The panorama takes in the city, the bay and Balboa Park, the wine list is among Wine Spectator's top-rated in the country, and it made OpenTable's 2026 Top 100 Brunch. Reserve a window table for the skyline view.
5.The Henry
The strongest brunch in Coronado, a plant-filled Fox Restaurant Concepts room on Orange Avenue; book the weekend patio across the bridge.
The Henry opened its Coronado room at 1031 Orange Avenue in 2024, a modern American all-day cafe and lounge from Fox Restaurant Concepts. It runs a Saturday and Sunday brunch and is widely called the best brunch on the island.
The draw is the lush, plant-filled patio scene as much as the menu. Book the weekend patio for a brunch across the bridge from downtown.
6.Sea & Sky
The highest ocean-view brunch in La Jolla Shores, an eleventh-floor penthouse with floor-to-ceiling Pacific views; reserve for the panorama.
Sea & Sky debuted in January 2024 atop the Hotel La Jolla at 7955 La Jolla Shores Drive, an eleventh-floor penthouse room with floor-to-ceiling Pacific views. It runs brunch Friday through Sunday, and the poached eggs with crab cakes is a menu standout.
It replaced the former Cusp Dining & Drinks in the same space. This is the highest ocean-view brunch room in La Jolla Shores, so reserve for the panorama.
7.insideOUT
A destination Hillcrest brunch in an immersive garden-oasis room; book the weekend table for a Pride-neighborhood morning under seasonal blooms.
insideOUT runs a California-Mediterranean room at 1642 University Avenue in Hillcrest, an LGBTQ-owned and operated space known for immersive seasonal installations. The weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 10.
It made OpenTable's 2026 Top 100 Brunch in the U.S. The lush, blossom-filled room is the draw, so book the weekend table for a destination Pride-neighborhood brunch.
Not for everyone
Famous, but not actually brunch
Cusp Dining & Drinks. The La Jolla Shores room has closed and reopened as Sea & Sky in the same eleventh-floor space, so its old brunch is off the live ranking. Book Sea & Sky above for the penthouse ocean-view brunch instead.
The Marine Room. La Jolla's famous high-tide fine-dining room from chef Bernard Guillas is open, but it does not run a regular weekly brunch, only occasional King Tide event brunches. Save it for a tide-watching dinner rather than a Saturday morning.
Breakfast Republic. The local breakfast chain has shrunk its San Diego footprint with several closures, so confirm a location before driving out. For a reliable destination brunch, the rooms above are the picks.
How to brunch well in San Diego
San Diego's best brunch follows the coast: La Jolla holds the ocean-view rooms over the Cove and the Shores, Coronado adds an island patio across the bridge, and Little Italy and Bankers Hill anchor the downtown scene. Plan around the view, because the marquee rooms trade on it.
Weekend tables fill fast, so reserve at George's, Mister A's, Cesarina, The Henry and Sea & Sky rather than walk up. Morning Glory in Little Italy takes no reservations for the main rush, so arrive early or expect a line for the soufflé pancakes.
