Weekend brunch · Phoenix · 6 rooms ranked · Updated June 2026

Phoenix brunch runs hot and early, the patios filling before the desert sun does, from from-scratch downtown counters to all-day Arcadia rooms with mimosas on the porch. These six, ranked, are where to spend a Saturday morning in the Valley when the table matters as much as the cold brew.

1.Matt's Big Breakfast

American · Downtown · Owners Matt & Erenia Pool

The from-scratch downtown counter that set the Valley standard; arrive before nine on a weekend or queue down First Street.

Matt and Erenia Pool opened Matt's Big Breakfast in 2004 and built it into the Valley's defining breakfast room, the flagship at 825 North First Street downtown. The kitchen griddles thick-cut bacon, makes its own corned beef hash and pours proper coffee, with most plates in the USD 9 to USD 16 range.

The room is small and the line is part of the deal, so come before nine on a Saturday or settle in on the sidewalk. It is walk-in only and runs from seven to two daily; the Camelback and Sky Harbor outposts ease the wait if downtown is slammed.

2.The Henry

New American · Arcadia · Fox Restaurant Concepts

Sam Fox's all-day Arcadia room is the dressed-up weekend pick; book the patio for a long mimosa-and-eggs morning.

The Henry, Sam Fox's Fox Restaurant Concepts flagship at 4455 East Camelback Road in Arcadia, runs one of the Valley's busiest weekend brunches across a sprawling room of dining nooks, a coffee bar and a big patio. The menu spans avocado toast, chilaquiles, brioche French toast and a strong cocktail list, with plates roughly USD 14 to USD 26.

It is the polished, see-and-be-seen end of Phoenix brunch, equal parts kitchen and scene. Reserve the patio on a weekend rather than walk up, and plan to linger; this is a sit-down morning built for a slow second coffee.

3.Dick's Hideaway

New Mexican · North Central · Richardson's

A cramped, beloved North Central room for red and green chile and breakfast margaritas; the counter is the seat to grab.

Dick's Hideaway, the Richardson's sibling at 6008 North 16th Street, packs a fierce New Mexican brunch into a tiny, dim room locals have loved for years. The draw is the chile, red and green over enchiladas and eggs, plus a strong morning margarita, with plates around USD 13 to USD 22.

Seats are scarce and the bar counter is the prize, so come early or put your name down. It is a Phoenix institution for a reason, the kind of intense, no-frills brunch the Valley keeps coming back to.

4.Hash Kitchen

American · Multi-site · Joey Maggiore

Joey Maggiore's brunch-party concept goes all-in on a build-your-own bloody mary bar; loud, fun and best with a group.

Hash Kitchen, the Joey Maggiore concept with several Valley locations, leans hard into brunch as an event, headlined by a build-your-own bloody mary bar and oversized plates of cannoli pancakes and chilaquiles. Expect a party atmosphere with DJs on weekends and plates roughly USD 14 to USD 22.

It is not the quiet morning some want, but for a birthday or a group it is the most fun brunch in the Valley. Reserve ahead at the weekend, when the bloody mary bar and the wait both run long.

5.Otro Cafe

Mexican · Uptown · LGO Hospitality

A colourful uptown room for chilaquiles and banana-caramel pancakes; tables are scarce, so come early on a weekend.

Otro Cafe, the LGO Hospitality room in uptown Phoenix, runs a bright, modern Mexican brunch that locals queue for, built on chilaquiles, huevos and a much-loved pancake topped with banana, creme fraiche, caramel and candied peanuts. Most plates land around USD 13 to USD 20.

The room is small and the wait can be long on weekend mornings, so arrive early or eat on the patio. It is the easy, colourful neighbourhood pick, a notch more casual than the Arcadia rooms but consistently good.

6.Original Breakfast House

American · North Phoenix · Family-run

A homely North Phoenix room for cinnamon roll pancakes and big plates; the low-key, walk-in family option.

Original Breakfast House at 13623 North 32nd Street in North Phoenix is the unpretentious counter-and-booths room locals send visitors to, famous for its cinnamon roll pancakes and generous skillets. Plates run an honest USD 10 to USD 17, and the coffee keeps coming.

It is walk-in only and family-friendly, the kind of relaxed weekend breakfast with no scene and no dress code. Come before nine on a Saturday for the easiest table, or expect a short wait in the lobby with the regulars.

Not for everyone

Famous, but not actually brunch

Pizzeria Bianco. Chris Bianco's room is essential Phoenix eating, but it is a lunch-and-dinner pizza destination, not a weekend brunch. Save it for a midday Margherita rather than a morning of eggs.

Most resort dining rooms. The Valley's resort restaurants run lavish Sunday buffets, but they are hotel events, not the from-scratch neighbourhood rooms this ranking favours. For a real brunch table, skip the buffet line.

Snooze (the chain). The Colorado import is a perfectly fine pancake chain with long waits, but it is not a Phoenix original. For the same energy with more local character, choose Matt's Big Breakfast or Original Breakfast House.

How to brunch well in Phoenix

Phoenix brunch sorts by area: downtown for the from-scratch counters, Arcadia and uptown for the dressed-up all-day rooms, and North Central and North Phoenix for the homely neighbourhood spots. The Valley is a driving city, so reckon on a car for most of these, and book a patio table in the cooler months when an outdoor morning is the whole point.

Weekend tables fill early, and several of the best rooms take no bookings, so the move is to arrive before nine or accept a wait. The Henry and Hash Kitchen are the two worth reserving, the first for a polished morning and the second for a group. For the quietest version of any of these, come on a weekday before the patios heat up.
