Dolly Parton lent her name and her pink-hued sensibility to White Limozeen, and Nashville's view scene has run on rooftops ever since. This is not a waterfront city, so the view comes from a few floors up, the downtown skyline and the Cumberland in the frame from a deck above the Gulch or Lower Broadway. The catch is that most of these rooftops are built for cocktails first, with the kitchen an afterthought. We scored these six on view and food together, ranking the decks where the plates are worth ordering above the ones that coast on the panorama. These are the Nashville rooftops where the skyline and the kitchen both earn the climb.
1.L.A. Jackson
The Gulch skyline from Nashville's most-awarded rooftop, sharp small plates above Thompson; catch it at sunset.
L.A. Jackson crowns the Thompson Nashville hotel in the Gulch, an indoor-outdoor rooftop that has taken Nashville Scene's Best Rooftop Bar award for years running. The kitchen sends out a New American menu of shareable plates, with garlic-parmesan fries, charcuterie and seasonal small plates that lift it above the rooftop pack, a visit around $20 to $40 a head. The deck looks straight at the downtown skyline over the Gulch, the towers lit at dusk. It is the rooftop where the food is most worth ordering. Catch it at sunset, book ahead on weekends, and build a meal from the small plates.
Reserve on the Thompson site for the deck.
2.Rare Bird
Downtown from the Noelle's thirteenth floor, cocktail-led with light bites; swing by before dinner.
Rare Bird sits on the thirteenth floor of the Noelle hotel downtown, a cocktail-led rooftop with skyline views across the central business district. The program is built around the bar, with a strong list of drinks and a menu of light bites and shareables rather than full plates, a visit around $15 to $30 a head. The setting is the draw, an intimate deck high over downtown with the towers close on every side. It is the spot for a drink and a few bites with the skyline rather than a sit-down dinner. Swing by before dinner, head up early to claim a rail seat, and order a cocktail with a snack.
Walk in or book on the Noelle site.
3.White Limozeen
Dolly's pink rooftop at the Graduate with skyline views and easy plates; settle in for cocktails.
White Limozeen tops the Graduate Nashville in Midtown, a playful pink-hued rooftop named in homage to Dolly Parton, with a pool deck and big umbrellas over a skyline view. The menu keeps it easy, with shareable American plates and entrees in the $16 to $28 range alongside a long cocktail list. It is more scene than serious kitchen, but the food is a step above the rooftop average and the Midtown skyline view is one of the best in that part of town. Settle in for cocktails, book a table on the deck, and keep the order to the shareable plates.
Book on the Graduate site for the deck.
4.Harriet's Rooftop
Nineteen floors over downtown at 1 Hotel, Asian-leaning bites and Music City lights; splurge on a bottle.
Harriet's Rooftop opened in late 2022 on the nineteenth floor of 1 Hotel Nashville, an elegant indoor-outdoor lounge high over downtown with a wide skyline view. The menu runs to eclectic, Asian-leaning light bites and shareables built around the bar and the entertainment program, a visit around $18 to $34 a head. It is one of the higher and more polished rooftops in the city, the Music City lights spread out below at night. The food plays second to the setting, but the room and the view are worth the climb. Splurge on a bottle, book a table by the windows, and order a few bites to share.
Book on the 1 Hotel site for a window table.
5.L27 Rooftop
Panoramic downtown from the Westin's twenty-seventh floor, poolside and polished; sit for the city lights.
L27 sits on the twenty-seventh floor of the Westin downtown, the highest rooftop on this list, with a poolside bar and floor-to-ceiling windows giving an unbroken view of the city and the Cumberland. The menu is rooftop fare, with shareable bites and a cocktail list, a visit around $15 to $30 a head. The food is the supporting act, but the panorama from this height, taking in the stadium, the river and the full downtown grid, is the broadest in the city. Sit for the city lights, head up near sunset, and keep the order to drinks and a couple of bites.
Walk in or book on the Westin site.
6.Acme Feed & Seed
The Cumberland River and Lower Broadway from an 1890 rooftop, Southern plates and sushi; stop up between sets.
Acme Feed and Seed fills a restored 1890 building on Lower Broadway, four levels topped by a rooftop patio that looks over the Cumberland River and the honky-tonk strip. The kitchen runs Southern comfort plates downstairs and a sushi bar upstairs, with the rooftop pulling from both, a meal around $14 to $26 a head. It is the most central view on the list, the river on one side and the neon of Broadway on the other. The food is casual but real, a notch above the bars around it. Stop up between sets, take the rooftop level, and order from the Southern menu or the sushi bar.
Walk in, head to the rooftop level.
Avoid for the view alone
The rooftop sells the table; the kitchen doesn't earn it
Fogg Street Lawn Club has a huge rooftop with one of the better skyline views in town, but it is built around lawn games and a party crowd more than the kitchen. Go for a drink and the scene with a group, then eat somewhere with a real menu.
Jason Aldean's Kitchen and Rooftop Bar on Lower Broadway has the neon and the rooftop, and the location does the work for the tourist crowd. Come up for the music and a beer, not for the dinner you will remember from the trip.
How to book a rooftop table in Nashville
Nashville's views are all rooftops, so the season and the hour matter as much as the address. The Gulch and Midtown decks, L.A. Jackson and White Limozeen, look across at the downtown skyline; the downtown rooftops, Rare Bird, Harriet's and L27, sit right in among the towers, with L27 the highest perch. Patios fill fast on warm weekends and around big events, so reserve a table at L.A. Jackson or Harriet's a week ahead and aim for the hour before sunset.
For the food as much as the view, L.A. Jackson is the one to book; for the broadest panorama, head to L27. Compare the Southern and coastal picks in the best view restaurants in Miami, and browse the global list in the worldwide ranking of restaurants with a view.
Frequently asked
What is the best rooftop restaurant in Nashville?
L.A. Jackson is our top rooftop. It crowns the Thompson Nashville in the Gulch and has taken Nashville Scene's Best Rooftop Bar award for years running, with a New American menu of shareable plates that lifts it above the rooftop pack. A visit runs about $20 to $40 a head, and the deck looks straight at the downtown skyline. It is the rooftop where the food is most worth ordering, not just the view.
Which Nashville rooftop has the best skyline view?
L27 on the twenty-seventh floor of the Westin has the highest and broadest view, an unbroken panorama of downtown, the stadium and the Cumberland River. Harriet's Rooftop at 1 Hotel, nineteen floors up, is a close second and a more polished room. For the skyline framed across the Gulch rather than from within it, L.A. Jackson at the Thompson has the best angle in that neighborhood.
Which Nashville rooftop has the best food?
L.A. Jackson at the Thompson has the strongest kitchen, a New American menu of shareable plates that has earned it a following beyond hotel guests. Acme Feed and Seed on Lower Broadway is a solid casual option, with Southern plates and a sushi bar feeding its rooftop. Most other rooftops, like Rare Bird, L27 and Harriet's, lean on the bar, so go to those for the view and a cocktail rather than a full dinner.
How much does a rooftop meal in Nashville cost?
It is mostly mid-range. Acme Feed and Seed and L27 run about $14 to $30 a head, Rare Bird and White Limozeen land around $15 to $30, and Harriet's about $18 to $34. L.A. Jackson, with the most substantial food, runs roughly $20 to $40. These are rooftop-bar prices rather than fine dining, so set the night around drinks and shareable plates.
When is the best time to book a Nashville rooftop?
Aim for the hour before sunset on a clear evening, when the skyline lights up and the heat eases. Nashville's rooftops are seasonal and fill fast on weekends and around big events and games, so reserve L.A. Jackson or Harriet's about a week ahead and ask for a table by the rail. The bar-led decks like Rare Bird and L27 take walk-ins but are best early in the evening.
