Best Restaurants for Anniversary in Beijing (2026)

Anniversary · Beijing · 7 tables ranked · Updated September 2026

Beijing celebrates loudly, and the obvious anniversary move, a banquet hall of roast duck under bright lights, gets the romance exactly backwards. The city's real special-occasion rooms are quieter and stranger: a vegetarian kitchen in a restored courtyard beside a working temple, a contemporary French table set in a six-hundred-year-old temple lit by candles, a seafood room with three Michelin stars, a grill nearly three hundred metres above the Forbidden City. These seven are ranked for an anniversary on romance and atmosphere first, then the room and the cooking, because a milestone dinner is judged on how the evening feels, not on the course count.

1.TRB Hutong

Contemporary French · Dongcheng · One MICHELIN star

A candlelit table in a 600-year-old temple courtyard, around RMB 1,500; the most romantic room in Beijing. Book the courtyard.

TRB Hutong, short for Temple Restaurant Beijing, sets a contemporary French kitchen inside the restored Songzhu Temple courtyard near the Forbidden City in Dongcheng, and the candlelit courtyard is arguably the most romantic dining setting in the city. It has held one Michelin star every year since 2023. The caviar service and the signature China-meets-France dessert sequence are the courses to look for.

For an anniversary the room does the heavy lifting: the historic courtyard is hushed, polished and special-occasion by design, with seasonal menus around RMB 1,200 to 1,800 a head. Book through the restaurant site or OpenTable a week or two ahead, ask for a courtyard table on a clear evening, and take an early seating when the space is at its quietest.

2.King's Joy

Vegetarian fine dining · Beixinqiao · Two MICHELIN stars

A serene two-star vegetarian kitchen in a temple-side courtyard, around RMB 1,200; quiet and beautiful. Book a courtyard room.

King's Joy occupies a restored courtyard house beside the Lama Temple in Beixinqiao, Dongcheng, and its Zen aesthetic makes it one of the most serene and genuinely romantic rooms in Beijing. It holds two Michelin stars and a Green Star for its high-end lacto-ovo vegetarian cooking, with refined mushroom and seasonal-vegetable courses across a tasting of ten or more.

An anniversary here is calm and beautiful rather than showy, around RMB 800 to 1,500 a head, and the temple-side setting gives the evening a quiet weight that a busier room cannot. Book through the restaurant site or WeChat ahead of time, request one of the quieter courtyard rooms, and note vegan menus are available on request.

3.Xin Rong Ji

Chinese fine dining · Chaoyang · Three MICHELIN stars

Beijing's three-star seafood flagship on Xinyuan South Road, from RMB 1,500; the city's grandest table. Book well ahead.

Xin Rong Ji on Xinyuan South Road in Chaoyang is one of only two three-Michelin-star restaurants in Beijing, the flagship of a renowned Taizhou-cuisine group built on East China Sea seafood. The Taizhou-style yellow croaker, wild-caught, is the signature, alongside a run of precise braised and steamed seafood.

It is the grandest anniversary table in the city, an elegant but relaxed modern-Chinese room with top-tier polish, from around RMB 1,500 to 2,500 a head and up. It is also the hardest table to land, so book through a hotel concierge or the restaurant's WeChat mini-program well ahead, and take an evening seating to keep the room quieter than the lunch service.

4.Grill 79

Western grill · CBD · 79th-floor skyline views

A grill nearly 300m above the Forbidden City, RMB 600 to 1,500; the city's classic view table. Book a window for sunset.

Grill 79 sits on the seventy-ninth floor of the China World Summit Wing in the Guomao business district, nearly three hundred metres up with panoramic views across to the Forbidden City rooftops. It is the classic wow-view anniversary choice, a Western grill where premium steaks, Boston lobster and roasted pigeon lead the a la carte.

Spending runs from around RMB 600 to well over 1,500 a head depending on what you order. It is not a Michelin-starred room, but for a milestone the view is the point, so book a window table for sunset through the Shangri-La site or concierge. Pair it with a toast upstairs at Atmosphere, the eightieth-floor bar, which is for drinks rather than dinner.

5.Lei Garden

Cantonese fine dining · Dongcheng · One MICHELIN star

A refined one-star Cantonese room near the Forbidden City, RMB 500 to 900; calm and attentive. Book a quiet corner or private room.

Lei Garden, in Jinbao Tower on Jinbao Street in Dongcheng near the Forbidden City, is the Hong Kong group's first Beijing outpost and holds one Michelin star for its classic Cantonese cooking. Refined roast meats, seafood and dim sum are executed to a consistently high standard for couples who prefer subtle, attentive service over spectacle.

It is a quieter, more understated anniversary option, around RMB 500 to 900 a head, and best at dinner when the business-lunch traffic has cleared. Cantonese fine-dining rooms can read a touch formal, so book a quieter corner or, better, a private room, and reserve a few days ahead through the restaurant or a concierge.

6.Country Kitchen

Northern Chinese · Rosewood Beijing · Open wood-fired kitchen

Wood-oven Peking duck in a polished Rosewood room, RMB 500 to 800; romance without the banquet chaos. Book an early dinner.

Country Kitchen at the Rosewood Beijing in Chaoyang lets you do a proper Peking-duck anniversary without the touristy banquet-hall chaos. The open wood-fired kitchen turns out the duck along with hand-pulled noodles and dumplings in a polished, design-forward luxury-hotel room with warm light and attentive service.

Around RMB 500 to 800 a head, it is the warm, theatrical middle ground for a couple who want the city's signature dish in an intimate setting. The open kitchen gives the evening a quiet show, and the room stays comfortable rather than loud. Book through the Rosewood site or concierge and take an early dinner seating for the calmest version of the room.

7.Opera Bombana

Modern Italian · Parkview Green · MICHELIN recommended

One of the prettiest Western rooms in Beijing, around RMB 1,100; grown-up romance and a serious cellar. Reserve a private corner.

Opera Bombana, the modern-Italian room from the Umberto Bombana name at Parkview Green in Chaoyang, is one of the prettiest Western dining rooms in Beijing: high ceilings, fine natural light and private corners, with a serious Piemonte and Tuscan red-wine list. It is recommended in the Michelin Guide rather than starred, despite some sources confusing it with Bombana's three-star Hong Kong room.

For an anniversary it offers polished, grown-up romance, around RMB 1,100 a head for dinner, with a better-value set lunch if you mark the day earlier. The wine list gives you something to linger over together. Reserve a private corner directly or through a concierge a few days ahead, and take an evening table for the softer light.

Avoid for an anniversary

Quanjude. The 1864 imperial-era Peking duck institution is iconic and worth seeing once, but the big branches are tour-bus loud, banquet-scaled, brightly lit and high-turnover. The history is real and the romance is zero. Go for the landmark duck on another night, not for your anniversary.

Siji Minfu. The duck is excellent and beloved, and the Donghua Gate branch even has Forbidden City views, but it is explicitly a fast-turnover, queue-out-the-door room packed with locals and tourists. Great food, wrong setting for an intimate evening; for a duck anniversary, choose Country Kitchen instead.

Gastro Esthetics DaDong. The upscale DaDong rooms turn out genuinely top-tier modern Peking duck, and the flagship holds a Michelin star, but the brand runs large, buzzy, design-loud halls geared to groups and showmanship. It is energetic rather than intimate, better for a celebratory group dinner than a quiet anniversary for two.

Reservation strategy for a Beijing anniversary

Beijing's best rooms book through channels foreign visitors do not always expect, so plan ahead. The hardest tables, Xin Rong Ji above all, go through a hotel concierge or the restaurant's WeChat mini-program rather than a Western booking app, so start there and reserve well in advance. TRB Hutong and Opera Bombana take direct or OpenTable bookings, and the hotel rooms, Grill 79, Country Kitchen and King's Joy, book through their hotel sites or concierges. For an anniversary, ask explicitly for the romantic seat: a courtyard table at TRB, a window for sunset at Grill 79, a private room at Lei Garden.

Tipping is not customary in Beijing and is not expected even at the top rooms, so do not feel you must add to the bill. Dinner is more romantic than lunch at every room here, since the business-lunch crowd has cleared and the light is softer. A weeknight is calmer than a weekend, and the courtyard and view rooms are best on a clear evening, so keep an eye on the forecast. Frequently asked

What is the best restaurant for an anniversary in Beijing?

TRB Hutong is the top pick. It sets a contemporary French kitchen inside the restored Songzhu Temple courtyard near the Forbidden City, and the candlelit courtyard is the most romantic dining setting in the city. It has held one Michelin star every year since 2023, with seasonal menus around RMB 1,200 to 1,800 a head. Book a courtyard table on a clear evening a week or two ahead, and take an early seating when the space is quietest.

Which Beijing restaurant is the most romantic?

TRB Hutong and King's Joy lead for romance. TRB sets candlelit tables in a six-hundred-year-old temple courtyard, while the two-star vegetarian King's Joy occupies a serene courtyard house beside the Lama Temple. Both trade spectacle for a quiet, beautiful sense of occasion, which is what an anniversary wants. For a view instead, Grill 79 puts you nearly three hundred metres above the Forbidden City at sunset.

How much does an anniversary dinner cost in Beijing?

Plan on RMB 500 to 2,500 a head before drinks for the rooms on this list. Lei Garden and Country Kitchen are the gentlest at RMB 500 to 900, TRB Hutong, King's Joy and Opera Bombana sit around RMB 1,100 to 1,800, Grill 79 spans RMB 600 to over 1,500 depending on what you order, and the three-star Xin Rong Ji runs from RMB 1,500 upward. Drinks and the wine list are extra at every room.

Should you book a Michelin restaurant for an anniversary in Beijing?

A romantic one, yes. Beijing's 2026 guide has rooms made for a milestone: the one-star TRB Hutong in its temple courtyard, the two-star King's Joy beside the Lama Temple, and the three-star Xin Rong Ji for the grandest possible table. Skip the loud, banquet-style duck halls even when they are starred, since the format fights romance. Match the star to the setting you want, not the other way around.

Can you do a Peking duck anniversary in Beijing without the banquet-hall crowds?

Yes. Country Kitchen at the Rosewood turns out wood-oven Peking duck in a polished, intimate luxury-hotel room with warm light and an open kitchen, which gives you the city's signature dish without the touristy chaos of the big institutions. Avoid Quanjude and Siji Minfu for a romantic evening, beloved as their duck is, and book Country Kitchen for an early dinner seating when the room is calmest.

Which Beijing area is best for an anniversary dinner?

Dongcheng and Chaoyang hold the strongest rooms. Dongcheng has the temple-courtyard romance of TRB Hutong, the serene King's Joy by the Lama Temple and the refined Cantonese of Lei Garden near the Forbidden City. Chaoyang has the three-star Xin Rong Ji, the Rosewood's Country Kitchen, Opera Bombana at Parkview Green and the sky-high Grill 79 in the CBD. Pick the setting first, courtyard, view or grand room, then the cuisine.
