La Favela's kitchen closes at eleven and the music takes over, which is the story of dining in Bali: this is not a late-night island. Most warungs and beach clubs stop cooking between ten and midnight, and the post-club crowd in Seminyak and Canggu is left with a short, specific list of kitchens that keep going. It runs to burgers, 24-hour warungs and a couple of party-restaurants rather than anything refined, but the value is real, from a 40,000-rupiah burger to a round-the-clock bowl of seafood porridge. These six keep a real kitchen open past eleven, several to three in the morning, ranked here by how late they serve, how good the food is, and what you get for the rupiah.

1.Pit Stop

Burgers / diner · Petitenget, Seminyak · Kitchen to ~3am

Lamb and beef burgers run to 3am in Petitenget from about Rp 40,000; for the best late-night value in Seminyak, pull in.

Pit Stop, billed as Bali's first proper burger joint, sits at the end of Petitenget street and catches the crowd heading home from the Seminyak clubs. The burgers, in lamb, beef, chicken and vegetarian, plus hot dogs and cheesy fries, are the order, from around Rp 40,000, which is about the best late value on the island. The kitchen runs to roughly 3am, later at weekends, and there are now Canggu and Uluwatu branches. For a cheap, late, no-nonsense feed, pull in.

Walk in; griddle to ~3am at the end of Petitenget.

2.Warung Laota

Seafood porridge · Tuban (Kuta) · Open 24 hours

Seafood rice porridge runs around the clock near the airport from about Rp 50,000; for a cheap 4am bowl, sit down.

Warung Laota cooks around the clock in Tuban, a few minutes from the airport, and is the late bowl when you want something hot and cheap rather than a burger. The bubur pelangi, a mixed-seafood rice porridge, is the order, with grilled fish and Chinese-Indonesian plates alongside, a filling bowl from around Rp 50,000. It feeds the night-shift workers, the late arrivals off red-eye flights and the post-club crowd alike, never closing. For a cheap porridge at 4am, sit down.

Walk in; 24 hours near the airport in Tuban.

3.Made's Warung

Indonesian · Seminyak · Kitchen to midnight

Nasi campur runs to midnight in Seminyak from a 1969 name around Rp 100,000; for a proper late Balinese plate, settle in.

Made's Warung began in Kuta in 1969 as one of Bali's first Western-facing warungs and its Seminyak room still carries the kitchen to midnight. The nasi campur, a rice plate ringed with small Balinese dishes, is the signature, with satay and the chilled es campur to follow, a meal around Rp 90,000 to Rp 150,000. It is the heritage table on this list, a proper sit-down dinner rather than a post-club patty, and the one place here with real history. For a late Balinese plate, settle in.

Walk in; kitchen to midnight in central Seminyak.

4.Motel Mexicola

Mexican · Seminyak · Tacos to 12:30am

Tacos run to 12:30am in Seminyak from around Rp 50,000 as the room turns club; for a late-night party feed, head over.

Motel Mexicola, a 50 Best Discovery listing in Seminyak, runs a late taco-and-drinks service from 10:30pm to 12:30am as the dining room dims and turns into one of the island's loudest parties. The tacos al pastor and the fish tacos are the orders, with margaritas by the jug, at around Rp 50,000 to Rp 70,000 a taco. The value here is in the night out, not the bill, so go knowing you are paying for the room as much as the food. For a late party feed, head over.

Walk in; tacos 10:30pm to 12:30am, then dancing.

5.Chariot Restaurant & Bar

Indonesian / Western · Kuta · Kitchen to 3am

Nasi goreng kampung and sate ayam run to 3am in Kuta around Rp 60,000; for a late Indonesian plate, drop in.

Chariot runs its kitchen from late morning to 3am in Kuta, a family-friendly room that turns into a useful late stop once the rest of the strip has shut. The nasi goreng kampung, a village-style fried rice, and the sate ayam are the orders, with Western plates alongside, a meal around Rp 60,000 to Rp 100,000. It is neither the cheapest nor the most refined option here, but it cooks a proper Indonesian plate at an hour when almost nothing else does. For a late local plate, drop in.

Walk in; kitchen to 3am in Kuta.

6.Bossman

Burgers · Seminyak · Kitchen to 5am

Stacked beef burgers run to 5am near the airport road in Seminyak from about Rp 60,000; for the island's latest patty, walk up.

Bossman griddles from 11am to 5am on Jalan Kayu Cendana in Seminyak, ten minutes from the airport, and is the island's default for a small-hours supper. The signature stacked beef burger is the order, with loaded fries and shakes alongside, from around Rp 60,000. It is a touch pricier than Pit Stop for a similar idea, but it runs two hours later, which is the whole point at 4am. For a 5am burger, walk up.

Walk in; kitchen to 5am on Jalan Kayu Cendana.

Not for a late dinner

Venue runs late, kitchen doesn't

La Favela. The jungle-themed Seminyak club serves dinner only to 11pm, after which it is strictly drinks as the party takes over. The room is one of Bali's best nights out, but the kitchen is shut by the time most people arrive. Eat first, then come to dance, not the other way around.

Potato Head. The Seminyak beach club is a Bali icon for sunset and the infinity pool, but the kitchens wind down in the evening while the venue runs on as a bar and party. It is built for an afternoon and early-evening session, not a 1am dinner. Come for the sunset and a cocktail, and eat late elsewhere.

Booking a late table in Bali

Bali is an early island, so the late map is small and clustered in Seminyak, Petitenget and Kuta. Pit Stop and Chariot run to 3am, Bossman to 5am, Warung Laota never closes, and Made's Warung and Motel Mexicola carry a kitchen to around midnight. Canggu thins out fast after eleven, with Pizza Fabbrica among the few exceptions, so plan to be in the Seminyak-Kuta corridor if you want to eat properly in the small hours.

None of these take reservations; they are walk-in places built for the post-club hour. The value runs from a Rp 40,000 burger at Pit Stop to a Rp 50,000 bowl of seafood porridge at Warung Laota, while the beach clubs charge for the room rather than the plate, so eat where the kitchen is the point. Cards work in the Seminyak rooms, the warungs prefer cash, and a Gojek or Grab scooter is the cheap way home at that hour.

Frequently asked

Which Bali restaurant has the latest kitchen?

Warung Laota in Tuban cooks 24 hours, the latest real kitchen on the island, and Bossman in Seminyak griddles burgers to 5am. Pit Stop in Petitenget and Chariot in Kuta run to around 3am, catching the post-club crowd, while Made's Warung closes at midnight and Motel Mexicola serves tacos to 12:30am. For food in the small hours, the 24-hour warung and the burger joints are the reliable options.

Where can I eat late in Bali on a budget?

The burger joints are the value, led by Pit Stop, where a burger runs from around Rp 40,000 until 3am, with Bossman cooking similar around the clock for a little more. Warung Laota's seafood porridge feeds you for about Rp 50,000 at any hour, and Chariot's nasi goreng kampung runs near Rp 60,000 to 3am. Carry some cash, as the warungs do not always take cards.

Do Bali restaurants close early?

Most do. The warungs and the fine-dining rooms stop cooking between ten and midnight, and the beach clubs such as La Favela close their kitchens by 11pm even as the party runs on. Genuine after-midnight food in Bali is a short list of burger joints, 24-hour warungs and a couple of party-restaurants, which is why this list is built around the kitchens that actually cook past 23:00.

Where can I eat late in Canggu?

Canggu is quieter than Seminyak after eleven. Pizza Fabbrica serves late pizza and the Canggu branch of Pit Stop runs its griddle into the small hours, but most of the surf-town cafes close by ten or eleven. For a wider choice after midnight you are better off in the Seminyak, Petitenget and Kuta corridor, where the burger joints and 24-hour warungs are concentrated.

Can I walk in for a late table in Bali?

Yes, every place on this list is walk-in and none take reservations; they are built for the after-hours crowd. Seating is first-come, busiest right after the clubs empty around 2 to 3am. A Gojek or Grab scooter is the cheapest way to get between Seminyak, Petitenget and Kuta and home again at that hour, since taxis can be scarce late.
