About Termeh & Toranj

Termeh & Toranj is one of Yazd's most-recommended mid-range dining destinations — operating from this Fahadan-neighbourhood address since 2016 (the restaurant was opened nine years ago by a Yazdi-resident family that continues to run the kitchen). The restaurant is housed in a converted traditional courtyard building with mud-brick walls, traditional Persian carpet decoration, and a small inner-courtyard dining area for spring-and-fall service.

The menu is broad Yazdi-Persian. Yazdi specialties include Eshkene Sefardi (the regional saffron-egg breakfast soup, $8), Stuffed Eggplant Yazdi-style ($12), and the regional Polo-ye Adas (lentil-and-rice pilaf, $14). Persian classics include Mixed Chelo Kabab ($20), Khoresh-e Bademjan ($14), Khoresh-e Fesenjan ($18), and Tahchin ($16). A meal of three Persian-Yazdi dishes for two runs $35-50.

The room is built in casual-traditional Yazdi style — mud-brick walls, traditional Persian carpets, low-set tables with floor cushions in the side galleries, and a small inner-courtyard with a single mature pomegranate tree (which gives the restaurant its 'Toranj' name — pomegranate in Persian). Capacity is forty across the courtyard and indoor sections. Walk-ins always work outside Persian New Year peaks; reservations are useful for groups of six or more.

What makes Termeh & Toranj the right Yazd mid-range dinner choice is the friendly-atmosphere reputation (the restaurant is consistently noted in Persian and English-language travel reviews for the warmth of the staff and the genuine welcoming character) and the focus on regional Yazdi dishes that the larger tourist-tier rooms underplay. The kitchen is unpretentious but consistently good.
