About Cannavacciuolo Bistrot Torino

Antonino Cannavacciuolo is Italy's most visible chef — judge on MasterChef Italia, holder of a two-starred flagship at Villa Crespi on Lake Orta, and operator of three additional starred restaurants across Piedmont. The Turin bistro opened in 2016 in a restored Art Nouveau villa in the Vanchiglia district and won its Michelin star in its first year. Head chef Nicola Somma runs the kitchen day-to-day; Cannavacciuolo is on the floor at least twice a week.

The cooking is a conscious dialogue between Cannavacciuolo's Neapolitan roots and the Piedmontese pantry that surrounds him. The signature paccheri with scorfano ragù and smoked almond is a Southern dish shipped north; the risotto al salto with provola and alici is a Milanese form given a Campanian weight. The tasting menus (€85 for five courses, €125 for eight) rotate four times a year and are the best expression of what the room is trying to do.

The villa itself — a 1910 Liberty-style residence restored by the architect Luisa Bocchietto — is one of the most characterful dining rooms in Turin. Four intimate rooms, stained-glass skylights, and a courtyard terrace that opens for summer service. The wine list is heavy on Piedmont with smart picks from Campania and Sicily.

For groups, the private dining room at the rear of the house seats up to fourteen and can be booked with a dedicated menu and wine pairing — one of the city's most elegant settings for a birthday or a milestone dinner.

Why It's Perfect for Birthday

For birthdays, Cannavacciuolo Bistrot is engineered for celebration without stiffness. The service is warmly Neapolitan — the team will acknowledge the occasion without making a production of it. The private dining room is ideal for parties of six to fourteen. Advance notice 48 hours ahead allows the pastry kitchen to prepare a dedicated dessert with the honouree's name written in bitter cocoa. The wine pairing at the tasting is lively rather than reverent — this is a room built for laughter, not hushed contemplation.
