About Tabu Trattoria
Tabu Trattoria sits on the quiet back-street of Wodna behind the Old Market Square and has been Poznan's default Italian since 2014. The kitchen is run by a Roman-trained chef and the cooking reflects that: pasta made in-house every morning, a short menu that rotates weekly, and an ingredient bias toward Polish-Italian combinations that work (Wielkopolska veal, San Marzano tomatoes, burrata flown in twice a week).
The room seats 38 across two candlelit spaces and gets the lighting right in a way that neighbouring Italian spots miss — dim enough to be flattering, bright enough to see the plate. A small open kitchen at the back of the main room provides quiet theatre without dominating the space.
The wine list is 80% Italian with a well-judged by-the-glass programme that gives diners an introduction without committing to a bottle. The sommelier pours a taste before the glass order is confirmed — a European service detail that Polish restaurants often skip.
The tagliatelle al ragu bolognese and the osso buco alla milanese are the signature orders. The Cacio e Pepe is done properly (no cream) and is worth ordering for the table to share. Desserts — the tiramisu in particular — are made in-house and are the correct ending.
