The Room
Beckta Dining & Wine opened in 2003 on Elgin Street and moved to its current Centretown address in 2015. Stephen Beckta — Sommelier-of-the-Year, ex-Eleven Madison Park — runs the wine programme; the kitchen is run by a rotating roster of head chefs in the Beckta tradition.
The dining room is small (60 seats) and elegantly restrained. Service is brigade-Canadian with sommelier-led floor culture.
The Food
The chef's tasting at $95 rotates monthly. Wine programme is the deepest in Ottawa with serious Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne benches alongside Niagara and Prince Edward County depth.

First Date: Beckta's small dining room is the Centretown first-date for the diner who wants the night to register as wine-knowledgeable.
