The Verdict

Seagull Café House opened in 1992 on a Fareedhee Magu corner in central Henveiru — the city's longest-running café and one of the few buildings in central Male with a garden courtyard, which the café has used as its primary dining space for more than 30 years. The dining room runs across the indoor café (40 covers) and the open-air garden (60 covers), with the kitchen on the ground floor and a small bakery section at the front of the building.

The cooking is broad-spectrum café — Maldivian short-eats and breakfast platters in the morning (the mas huni with hot roshi is the standing breakfast order), an international lunch and dinner menu (pasta, sandwiches, burgers, pizza), and the dessert and ice-cream program that built the café's reputation across three decades. The chocolate avocado smoothie is a signature that has been on the menu since the late 1990s.

Pricing runs USD 12–22 per person. The garden courtyard is the room's defining feature — the only true outdoor garden in central Male — and is the city's best setting for a slow solo meal or a casual catch-up that needs to feel removed from the urban density. The room is family-friendly and runs late into the evening (closes 11pm).
