About Bam Bou
Bam Bou is the signature dining room of the Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern — one of the city's grandest historic hotels, on the Schweizerhofquai lakefront a short walk east of the Chapel Bridge. The dining room sits on the ground floor with views onto the quay and the lake.
The kitchen runs a Modern Asian programme — the menu spans Cantonese, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese registers with confidence — built around carefully crafted multi-course tasting menus and a focused à la carte. Signature dishes include a Peking-style duck (carved tableside), lobster bao, miso black cod, and a robata-grilled wagyu. The dim sum programme at lunch is excellent.
The wine list is unusually strong for an Asian-leaning room — Champagne and Riesling go deep (the right wines for the cuisine), with serious Burgundy white and a focused Asian-friendly red programme. The cocktail bar is a destination in its own right and the natural pre-dinner stop.
The dining room takes around eighty covers across a main space and a more intimate inner room. Service is high-volume and warm. Open every day; book a week ahead for Friday or Saturday.
Why It's Perfect for First Date
Bam Bou is the Lucerne first-date booking with the right balance — modern Asian cuisine (a reliable conversation starter, more interesting than another French room), the lakefront Schweizerhof setting (one of the city's grandest historic hotels), and a price point that lets you order well without performing wealth. Order the duck and the lobster bao; the cocktail bar before dinner is a destination in its own right.
