About Kashan Bazaar Tea House
The Kashan Bazaar Tea House is the city's reference traditional tea-house — operating inside the 19th-century covered Bazaar, the venue serves Persian saffron tea, Kashan rosewater sharbats, and traditional Persian sweets in the architectural setting of the original Bazaar's covered alleyways. The tea house is genuinely one of the country's most-evocative single small venues for a Persian-tea afternoon.
The format is simple. Persian Saffron Tea ($3) — the Persian black tea brewed strong, sweetened with rock-sugar (nabat), served with a small saucer of Kashan-region sweets (qottab almond cookies, sohan saffron-and-pistachio brittle, Kashan-specific honey-and-walnut pastries). Kashan Rosewater Sharbat ($4) — the famous regional cool drink made with the village-distilled rosewater, served chilled in summer. A typical visit costs $5-12 per person.
The architectural setting is the venue's whole pitch. The Bazaar's 19th-century covered alleyway has been preserved with the original brick-and-tile dome-vaulted ceiling, hand-painted Persian decorative motifs on the side walls, and traditional Persian-carpet floor coverings. Customers sit at small wooden tables in the side galleries; the central area holds the samovar (the large copper-and-brass tea-brewing urn) and the day's pastry display.
The tea house is open from 9am to 8pm; the prime hours are 3-6pm afternoon when both Kashan-resident shoppers and visiting tourists populate the seating areas. Walk-ins are the only access; cash is preferred. The post-tea Bazaar walk is the proper close — the covered Bazaar is open until 10pm and is one of Iran's most-photographed single architectural set-pieces.
Best Occasion Fit
Solo travellers — corner table with Persian saffron tea and a small Kashan-pastry plate, $5 bill, the proper Kashan afternoon ritual. As a first date, the candlelit Bazaar tea-house setting is intimate without being formal. Team dinners as the dessert leg of a longer Kashan day work for groups of four to six.
