Gonu Bar & Grill

Gonu Bar & Grill is the signature seafood-and-grill restaurant of Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort. The room sits directly on the beach with a full deck extending over the Gulf of Oman, and it is — by most resort concierges' ranking — the single most-booked proposal restaurant in Fujairah.

The dining pavilion is a beach-facing glass-and-timber structure with a covered outdoor deck that extends about twenty metres toward the water. The deck seats about sixty across two-tops and four-tops, with the sunset side the obvious proposal request. The kitchen works a grill-and-seafood menu: live-lobster tank, a Wagyu and Angus steak programme, whole grilled hammour, and a local-catch seafood plateau for two that is the room's signature order.

The wine list is the most Mediterranean-weighted of the Al Aqah resorts — Italian whites, Provençal rosé, Lebanese reds, and a full Champagne programme. Sommelier-led pairing is available with the tasting menu and strongly recommended. The bar runs beach-setting signatures: the Oman Sunset (rum, mango, chili), the Fujairah Negroni (gin, Campari, date syrup), and a seafood-aperitif menu of oysters and champagne.

Service is Marriott-international at a high level — the brigade runs the room with Dubai timing but Fujairah warmth. The sunset seating (6 PM winter, 7.30 PM summer) is the book; reservations are essential 48 hours ahead; Friday brunch runs 12.30–4 and books a week ahead.

Gonu is Fujairah's proposal table. The deck over the Gulf of Oman at sunset, the whole-fish service, the Champagne programme, the dedicated server — the mechanics are all there. Book the western-edge two-top at sunset, coordinate the ring with the concierge, brief the sommelier on the Champagne. For a first date with a counterpart who values an event-level evening, the deck two-top at twilight is the more relaxed choice; for a team dinner the indoor long-table is the group pick.
