The Room

Atrium sits in Suseong-gu, the lakeside district that concentrates most of Daegu's serious fine dining, inside a modernist villa designed around a central glass-walled light-well. The name is literal — the dining room wraps the atrium, which holds a single slender tree under skylights. The effect at dusk is startling: candlelight, white linen, a tree three stories tall, and a menu that reads French but eats Korean in its rhythm.

Chef Park Jun-seong trained in Lyon and at several Seoul tasting-menu rooms before opening Atrium. His menu runs a seasonal eight courses, built on classical French techniques but sourcing relentlessly from Gyeongsang province — wild mountain herbs, Uljin snow crab, dry-aged Andong hanwoo, and the apples that give Daegu its name. The signature dishes vary by season but the Uljin crab consommé and the hanwoo rib course are menu constants.

The wine list is deeper than it has any right to be for a regional Korean city — around 400 references, heavily French, with a proper Burgundy section and a small but well-chosen natural-wine list. The sommelier pairs by the glass across the tasting menu for an additional fee and the pairings are reliably the right choice.

Prices run ₩220,000 to ₩280,000 per head for the full menu with pairings — roughly half what an equivalent Seoul tasting-menu experience would cost, in a room that would earn a star in any Michelin Guide that bothered to visit Daegu. Reservations open two weeks in advance via Catch Table; weekends fill inside 24 hours.

Why It's Best for Impress Clients

For Impress Clients, Atrium is the clearest argument Daegu can make. The room photographs beautifully, the food is recognisably fine-dining in a global idiom, and the service moves at a pace suited to long business conversation. The wine list gives a host room to demonstrate judgement. For Seoul or international clients brought south on business, this is the default power-dinner table in the city.
