About Sachi

When Ayman Baky opened Sachi in 2014, he did something that Cairo's dining culture had never seen: a reservation-only restaurant. The concept was radical in a city accustomed to walk-in culture, and the fact that it worked — that Cairo's wealthy, well-travelled class immediately understood and embraced the proposition — said everything about the ambition of the space and the quality of what it served.

Sachi translates as "child of joy" — named for Baky's children — and the restaurant carries that warmth without sacrificing its palpable seriousness. It is now ranked #27 on the MENA's 50 Best Restaurants list, firmly established as one of the region's defining dining experiences. Three kitchen concepts operate under one roof: Mediterranean, Japanese, and open-fire cooking. The result is a menu of unusual range and consistency — sushi and sashimi prepared with precision; a Stracciatella salad with burrata cream that has become a signature; and a tableside chateaubriand programme — whole roast beef carved with ceremony — that draws the room's attention every time it arrives.

The atmosphere is glamorous without being heavy. A serene, dark-panelled room, impeccable service trained to the standard of the city's best hotel restaurants, and a clientele that arrives dressed for the occasion. Sachi is located at 3 Cleopatra Street in Korba, Heliopolis — a 30-minute drive northeast from Downtown Cairo — and the journey is worth every minute.

Best for Close a Deal

Sachi is the deal-closing restaurant of Cairo's north-east establishment. Its MENA 50 Best ranking provides a pre-existing credential that signals sophistication to any visiting counterpart; the reservation-only model signals that no effort was spared. The kitchen delivers the kind of consistent, impressive cuisine — Japanese precision meeting Mediterranean generosity — that sustains a serious conversation without overwhelming it. The service is attentive but not intrusive.

For impressing clients, the tableside chateaubriand ceremony is a moment of theatre that lands perfectly at the right table. For landmark birthdays, the kitchen accommodates celebration menus with advance notice. Sachi's private dining arrangements — the restaurant pioneered the reservation-only concept here — can be extended to semi-private dining areas for groups that require discretion.

Signature Dishes

The sushi counter produces some of the most precise raw fish preparation in Egypt — tuna and salmon nigiri with minimal intervention, allowing the quality of the ingredient to speak. The Stracciatella salad with burrata cream has been on the menu since opening and earns its place. Shrimp cooked tableside in garlic butter is the crowd-pleasing highlight of the Mediterranean section. The chateaubriand programme — a whole butterflied chicken in garlic and soy dressing carved tableside, or a full beef roast — is the kitchen's most theatrical expression and its most photographed moment. For dessert, the hot and cold chocolate presentation arrives like a final act.
