About Stones of the Yarra Valley
Stones of the Yarra Valley is the dining and events complex on St Huberts Road — a converted 1860s historic farm complex with The Stables (the original 1860s stables building, now the destination dining room) and Meletos (a sister-restaurant in a converted barn) — and is one of the Yarra Valley's most celebrated food and wine destinations. The Stables features soaring red-brick walls and rough-hewn timbers in the historic building that served as stablehand quarters.
The cuisine is contemporary Yarra Valley with deep regional sourcing. Signatures include a hand-cut Yarra Valley salmon tartare; a slow-cooked Yarra Valley Wagyu shoulder with juniper jus; a hand-rolled tagliolino with Yarra Valley black truffle; a wood-fired Murray cod with samphire; the famous 'Stones chocolate' for the dessert course.
The wine list runs to 350 references with deep Yarra Valley smallholder coverage. The cocktail bar at the front of the restaurant runs a serious Australian-spirits programme.
The Stables dining room holds ninety-six covers; the historic 1860s setting is the experience.
Why It's Perfect for Birthday
Stones of the Yarra Valley is the birthday-grade dinner in the Yarra Valley — the 1860s historic-stables setting is genuinely conversation-worthy, and the room's volume on a Saturday night is celebratory. Book the long table for a group of eight.
