The Salt Line

The Salt Line's Navy Yard New England seafood — a serious lobster-and-oyster programme, a waterfront patio with the Anacostia River view, and the most-considered Navy Yard seafood destination.

The Room

The Salt Line opened in Navy Yard in 2017 — a New England-style seafood dining room dedicated to the proposition that Navy Yard needed a working waterfront-seafood destination. The dining room is intentionally relaxed: a long oyster bar at the front, banquettes along the western wall, a waterfront patio that looks across the Anacostia River.

Eater DC has held The Salt Line on its top-Navy-Yard rankings every year of operation.

The Food

The lobster roll, the daily oyster programme, the New England clam chowder run as the menu's signature. The seasonal-rotating Mid-Atlantic seafood plates and the brunch programme handle the menu's wider draws.

Wine programme tilts toward Champagne and white-Burgundy. Cocktails are classic-American. Service is informed and warm.

Best Occasion Fit

First Date: The waterfront patio at The Salt Line is one of Navy Yard's most-reliable first-date seats.

Birthday: Birthdays at The Salt Line are warm, seafood-led, waterfront affairs the room handles with eight years of practice.

Team Dinner: The communal tables hold ten to twelve.
