The Room
Punjab Grill opened in Penn Quarter in 2017 — a modern North-Indian dining room dedicated to the proposition that DC needed a working Indian-fine-dining destination at the architectural register Rasika established. The dining room is intentionally formal-modern: marble accents, hand-painted Indian murals, a long bar at the front.
Eater DC has held Punjab Grill on its top-Indian-restaurant rankings every year of operation.
The Food
The tandoor programme runs lamb, chicken, and seafood. The seasonal-rotating curries, the rice-and-bread programme, the chef's tasting at $95 handle the menu's wider draws.
Wine programme is short, weighted toward Riesling. Cocktails are Indian-spice-led. Service is informed and warm.
