The Room

Aaron Silverman opened Little Pearl in 2018 — the casual-cafe sister to his Rose's Luxury and Pineapple and Pearls. The format is intentionally all-day: a working pastry programme in the morning, a casual lunch, an afternoon coffee-and-wine programme, a serious bistro-evening menu.

Eater DC has held Little Pearl on its top-Capitol-Hill rankings every year of operation. The booking window for evening service tightens to one to two weeks.

The Food

The pastry programme — croissants, the seasonal-rotating pastry case, sourdough — runs all day. The lunch menu runs sandwiches and salads. The bistro evening menu runs a serious Mid-Atlantic-American programme. The brunch service handles a serious weekend programme.

Wine programme is small but considered, weighted toward natural and small-producer. Cocktail bench is short and considered.

Best Occasion Fit

First Date: The bar at Little Pearl is one of Capitol Hill's most-reliable casual first-date seats.

Solo Dining: The bar at Little Pearl is one of the better DC solo-dining seats for the all-day register.

Birthday: Birthdays at Little Pearl are warm, cafe-bistro affairs the room handles with seven years of practice.
