Birch & Barley opened on 14th Street in 2009 — a serious beer-gastropub dedicated to the proposition that DC needed a working craft-beer destination at full restaurant scale. The dining room is intentionally relaxed.
The James Beard Foundation has shortlisted Birch & Barley for Outstanding Bar Program.
The Food
The kitchen runs gastropub-American with chef-driven discipline. The seasonal-rotating preparations, the wood-fired pizza, the burger run as the menu's spine.
Beer programme runs over 500 bottlings. Service is informed and warm.
