About Estro

Estro sits at Dorsoduro 3778 on Calle San Pantalon in Venice, between the Church of San Pantalon and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco — a pocket frequented by Venetians. It anchors part of our Venice coverage and our Italian guide as the city's reference for natural wine with serious cooking.

Venice-born brothers Alberto and Dario Spezzamonte opened it on 18 June 2014 after running Osteria alla Staffa in Castello. Alberto leads the kitchen; Dario runs the room and the cellar. Estro is listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide.

The Kitchen

The cooking is contemporary Venetian, built on seasonality, terroir and tradition reworked with a modern hand. Cicchetti lead the way, alongside daily plates that shift with the lagoon and the market; Japanese chef Masahiro Homma has long cooked the line.

The cellar is the other half of the story: more than 700 natural wines from across Europe, poured to match. Expect roughly €60–70 per person for dinner, more with serious wine.

The Room

The room is sharp and industrial-chic, much of it built from reclaimed Venetian materials — tables from briccole, the lagoon's wooden poles, and a bar counter made from old Grand Canal balconies. The vibe is young but welcoming.

It works for a relaxed dinner for two or a small table that wants to drink well. Book ahead, especially in high season; the room is compact.

Best for a wine-led date or a client dinner

Estro suits a relaxed first date, a low-key anniversary or a dinner to impress clients who care about wine. For other Venice tables, compare Glam, Osteria da Fiore and Il Ridotto.

Not for

Not for diners after white-tablecloth formality, a grand canal-view room or a long set tasting — it is a compact, wine-led bar where the list and the day's market lead.
