About Requinquer

Requinquer opened in November 2009 on a back lane off Platinum Street in Shirokanedai, Minato, and grew into one of the area's most-loved neighbourhood French rooms. Chef-owner Soichi Furuya, who trained in Paris and cooked at Bistro de la Cité, held one Michelin star here across the 2015 to 2023 Tokyo guides, with a Bib Gourmand before that.

The Kitchen

Furuya cooks classic French with a light, modern hand and a habit of turning off-spec farm vegetables into soups and crêpes. The house terrine de foie gras is the dish regulars return for, and the cooking stays generous rather than fussy. Dinner courses run JPY 15,600 and JPY 24,800; lunch starts at JPY 6,200.

The restaurant sits at Shirokanedai 5-17-11, about four minutes from Shirokanedai station.

The Room

Requinquer is a small one-house restaurant, warm and informal, where Furuya often greets regulars himself. It seats a few dozen across a single low-lit room, which makes it as suited to a quiet date as to a small celebration. Dinner needs booking.

Best for a Date

Book Requinquer for a date: the room is small and warm, the French cooking is comforting rather than showy, and the JPY 15,600 menu makes a serious kitchen feel approachable. For more, see our Tokyo dining guide and the global best French restaurants.

Not for

Not for a big group or a fast, casual bite — this is a small, set-menu French house where one chef cooks for the room, so come for two and plan to linger.
