About Gorrono Ranch

Gorrono Ranch sits under the Village Express Lift 4 at 565 Mountain Village Boulevard in Telluride, housed in a historic former sheep ranch barn on one of the ski runs. There is no marquee chef — it is a much-loved mid-mountain lodge, widely rated among the best ski-resort lunch stops in North America, serving honest American ski fare on a vast sun deck with an island-meets-alpine vibe and live music.

The Kitchen

The food is built for a day on the slopes: burgers, barbecue, chili, sandwiches and quick eats, ordered cafeteria-style and carried out to the deck. Local favourites centre on the grill and the BBQ, with a kids' menu and plenty for a hungry group. Prices run roughly $15 to $25 a head — a little steep, as on-mountain dining tends to be, but moderate ($$) for a resort lunch with this view of the Wilson Range.

The Room

The draw is the setting: a rustic barn with the historic Saloon and Outpost bars inside, and a huge outdoor deck — Gorrono's famous “Snow Beach” — lined with chairs and picnic tables for an after-ski drink in the sun. Live music keeps the deck lively, and it runs 11am to 4pm during ski season only. In summer the ranch is reached by mountain road and hosts weddings and private dinners for 50 to 200, plus an annual New Year's Eve sleigh-ride dinner.

Best for a team dinner

For a group ski day, a birthday on the slopes or an easygoing first date in the sun, Gorrono Ranch is Telluride's mid-mountain default: a big deck, live music and BBQ for a crowd. A natural group lunch and birthday stop, and a relaxed first date on the Snow Beach.

Not for

Not for a quiet fine-dining dinner or an off-season visit — Gorrono Ranch is a ski-season lunch lodge, open 11am to 4pm on the mountain.
