The Room

Place Pigalle has operated from a hidden balcony perch in Pike Place Market since 1972 — one of the market's longest-running dining institutions and one of the most-romantic small dining rooms in central Seattle. The dining room is unchanged from the 1970s renovation: hardwood floors, white-linen tablecloths, framed Toulouse-Lautrec posters, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing Elliott Bay.

The Seattle Times has named Place Pigalle a Pike Place Heritage Restaurant. The Eater Seattle list has held the room on its most-romantic rankings every year of operation.

The Food

The menu runs French-bistro-classic with Pacific Northwest seafood influences. The mussels, the daily fish preparations, the seasonal-rotating French menus run as the menu's spine. The brunch service is one of Pike Place's most-considered weekend offerings.

Wine programme runs French and Pacific Northwest. Cocktails are classic-French. Service is the warm, informed register a fifty-three-year-old French dining room has earned.

Best Occasion Fit

First Date: The waterfront tables at Place Pigalle are among Pike Place's most-reliable first-date seats. The view is the conversation, the French menu shares well, and the room's Heritage-Restaurant register reads as warm without becoming theatrical.

Birthday: Birthdays at Place Pigalle are warm, French-classic, candle-on-the-tarte-tatin affairs the room has hosted for over five decades.

Proposal: The corner waterfront table at Place Pigalle on a clear evening is one of Seattle's most-discreet proposal venues.

What Guests Say

Patrick H.Solo Dining

Sat at the waterfront table at Place Pigalle for a working lunch — the daily fish, a glass of Loire white. The Elliott Bay view is the working conversation.

Booked Place Pigalle for my mother's eightieth at the corner table. The mussels, the French menu, the bay view — every element delivered.
