The Restaurant
The Belvedere Restaurant is the main dining room of Belmond Hotel Caruso, an 11th-century palazzo at the highest point of Ravello that was converted in 2005 into the Amalfi's most celebrated luxury hotel. The restaurant occupies a vaulted terrace that has been a dining space since the 15th century, with a view across the Caruso gardens to the infinity pool — arguably the most photographed pool on the Italian coast.
The cuisine under chef Armando Aristarco is contemporary Italian with emphasis on local produce, housemade pasta, and the Caruso's own terraced vineyards and vegetable gardens (the hotel has a working ultra-small wine production on-site). Seasonal menus feature red mullet with Cetara anchovy butter, pasta with Amalfi lemon, and a wood-oven pigeon that has become a signature. À la carte pricing is generous; the five-course tasting is €180.
What makes Belvedere distinct from the starred competition in Ravello is scale and polish. The terrace seats ninety across multiple levels; the kitchen is big enough to deliver consistent excellence under volume; the Belmond group's service standards (trained globally and deployed here) are visible in every detail. For a polished, impressive, no-surprises dinner with the Amalfi's best pool view, the Caruso delivers.
Why This Is Ravello’s Impress Clients Pick
For impressing a visiting client in a setting that will be remembered and photographed, the Belvedere at Caruso is both obvious and correct. The Belmond brand carries its own international signal. The pool view operates as background music — never intrusive, always present. Pre-dinner drinks on the pool terrace, dinner on the Belvedere, a digestif in the Caruso lounge afterwards: the evening assembles itself. Private dining for parties of six to twenty is available with the hotel's full ceremonial treatment.
