"Phoenix's best rooftop table — book Théa for Mediterranean sharing plates, one of America's largest rosé lists and Camelback at eye level."
About Théa
Théa opened in December 2023 on the roof of The Global Ambassador, the independent luxury hotel built by restaurateur Sam Fox on Camelback Road. The pitch is simple and it lands: a Mediterranean rooftop with Camelback Mountain filling the view, the kind of room Phoenix had been missing. It trades less on chef pedigree than on setting, sharing plates and a drinks list with real ambition, including one of the largest rosé selections in the United States.
The Kitchen
The kitchen works across the Mediterranean — Greek, Italian and Levantine. The signature opener is the Goddess of All Dips, a spread of whipped ricotta, baba ghanoush, muhammara, tzatziki, kopanisti and hummus with bazlama and pita. From there it runs to spaghetti alla Nerano, a mixed grill of truffle filet, chicken souvlaki and lamb chops, and plenty of seafood. It is generous, made-for-sharing cooking rather than fine dining, and the bill, with the rosé list in play, lands in the upper-mid ($$$) range.
The Room
The room is the reason to come: an open rooftop angled straight at Camelback, busiest and best at sunset when the rock turns red. It runs lively and social rather than hushed, with a bar scene and a wide terrace. Service is friendly and used to a full house. Sunset tables are the prize and book earliest; weekends fill fast. Come for the view and the drinks as much as the food.
Best for a first date
For a first date, a birthday or a celebratory night with friends, Théa is one of the easiest wins in Phoenix: the view, the sharing plates and the rosé list set an effortless mood. A natural first-date and birthday table, and a strong impress-clients rooftop.
Not for
Not for a quiet, hushed dinner or a tight budget — Théa is a busy, social rooftop where the view and the drinks list, not silence or value, are the draw.
