About Knot Norm's

Knot Norm's sits at 10 First Street near the mouth of the Norwalk River, a short walk from the SoNo strip. It anchors part of our Norwalk guide and our seafood coverage as the area's no-fuss New England counter.

The kitchen leans on local supply: its oysters come from Copps Island Oysters, the fourth-generation Bloom family shellfish farm founded off Norwalk and Westport in 1994. The restaurant has since added a second location in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Kitchen

The order is the hot Lobster Roll — lobster steamed and poached in house-made lobster butter, topped with micro celery and lemon, served on a toasted New England bun (market price). Close behind is the Copps Island Roll ($20), fried Copps Island oysters with tartar and little gem, and a dozen raw oysters runs $33 at the raw bar.

From-scratch New England clam chowder ($8) and lobster bisque ($15) round it out, along with steamed littleneck clams ($21) and roasted Copps Island oysters ($16). Most rolls land between $10 and $20.

The Room

This is a fast-casual room, not a white-tablecloth one — order at the counter, grab a seat, and eat off paper with a side of Cape Cod chips and house slaw. The appeal is freshness and value, not ceremony.

It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30am to 9pm and Sunday to 8pm, closed Monday. No reservations — it is walk-in only.

Best for a quick, high-quality seafood lunch or solo bite

Knot Norm's suits a no-fuss solo lunch, an easy first date over oysters or a fast team lunch. For other Norwalk tables, compare Harbor Lights, Alma Bistro or Mecha Noodle Bar.

Not for

Not for a formal sit-down dinner or a special-occasion night — it is a counter-service spot with paper napkins, no table service and no reservations.
