About Foo
Foo, opened in 2019 in BKC and now running a second outpost in Lower Parel, is the Massive Restaurants group's love letter to Pan-Asian small plates. The dining room is moody concrete, low-lit, with a hammered-copper bar that draws solo diners and a sushi-counter pass for those who want kitchen visibility.
Chef Hari Nayak's menu reads like a greatest-hits tour: black cod miso, tuna tataki, dim sum baskets that change weekly, a wagyu Tex-Mex taco that has been on the menu since opening night because removing it would cause a small riot. The wok is hot, the sushi rice is properly aged, and the bao is house-made.
It is the rare restaurant that works equally for two and for eight — small plates encourage sharing without forcing it, and the menu is wide enough that no two people order the same way. Service is informed, fast, and unfussy. The bar programme runs a strong Asian-spirit cocktail list with a sake by the glass that is rotated monthly.
Bookings via the Massive Restaurants app or DineOut, one week ahead. Walk-in is possible at the bar. The Lower Parel branch is louder and more energetic; BKC is the calmer choice for an actual conversation. Dress smart-casual.
Best Occasion Fit
First-date Mumbai works best when ordering is part of the plot — Foo's small-plate menu invites sharing without performance, the bar is forgiving if conversation takes longer than dinner, and the energy is just loud enough to take the pressure off any awkward pause.
