About The Trellis Room

The Trellis Room is the signature restaurant of the Battle House Renaissance Hotel, which has stood on Royal Street in downtown Mobile since 1852. The dining room sits beneath the hotel's restored 1908 Tiffany-style stained-glass dome, one of the most striking spaces in the city.

The kitchen cooks Italian with a Gulf Coast accent. It belongs in our Italian coverage of Mobile as its grandest occasion address.

The Kitchen

The menu runs to handmade pasta, scratch-made sauces and fresh Gulf seafood drawn from family recipes. The Seared Diver Scallops have been named to Alabama's Top 100 Dishes, and the lamb-and-pork meatballs in a light tomato sauce are a house favourite, alongside ricotta lasagna and bucatini and meatballs.

It is polished, classic cooking - Italian tradition met with the local catch - rather than experimental, exactly what a grand hotel dining room should deliver.

The Room

The room is elegant and historic without feeling like a museum: warm lighting, Southern architectural detail and the glow of the stained-glass dome overhead. The floor plan handles intimate tables and larger party configurations with equal ease, and valet parking is complimentary when you dine.

Service is polished and attentive, geared to the celebrations and power dinners the room tends to host.

Best for a celebration or power dinner

The Trellis Room suits a special anniversary, a grand birthday, or a polished room to impress clients. For other Mobile tables, compare Dauphin's, NoJa or The Noble South.

Not for

Not for a quick, casual bite or a tight budget - it is a grand hotel dining room built for celebrations and special occasions, not a weeknight drop-in.
