About Red, The Steakhouse
Red, The Steakhouse opened on Washington Avenue in South of Fifth in 2008 and has operated as the quieter, cellar-forward alternative to Prime 112 ever since. The restaurant sources exclusively from Certified Angus Beef — the top 1.5% of Angus beef in the United States — and ages every cut in-house.
The wine list runs to 500 selections with an emphasis on California cabernet, Bordeaux classed growth, and Italian Super Tuscans, and the sommelier-led tableside decanting service is a signature of the dinner arc. Entrées run $60-180. The filet with bordelaise and the tomahawk for two are the sales leaders.
The dining room is deeper and quieter than the Ocean Drive equivalents two blocks away — leather banquettes, lower volume, a service style that defers to the conversation at the table rather than interrupting it. For substantive business dinners on South Beach without the celebrity-energy overlay, Red is the booking.
Best Occasion Fit
Red closes deals two blocks from Prime 112 with half the noise. The Certified Angus programme, the cellar depth, and the quieter dining room combine into a steakhouse that optimises for the conversation rather than the scene.
