About OLA Miami

OLA Miami operates inside the Sanctuary Hotel on Collins Avenue in Mid-Beach and is the flagship restaurant of chef Douglas Rodriguez — widely credited as the creator of Nuevo Latino cuisine through his 1994 New York restaurant Patria and his subsequent work in Miami. He continues to run the kitchen personally.

The menu is a tour of modern Latin American cooking: seven ceviches at the dedicated bar, the signature plantain-wrapped red snapper, churrasco with chimichurri, rotisserie chicken with rice-and-beans, and a Peruvian-leaning tasting menu at the counter ($95 per person). À la carte dinners land $65-110 per person.

The dining room is mid-century tropical — terracotta floors, palm-printed banquettes, a partially-open ceviche bar. The acoustic environment is comfortable for conversation and the service leans senior and attentive. A meaningful proportion of the guests are dining with the chef specifically, and the arrivals-and-handshakes pacing reflects that.

Best Occasion Fit

OLA is a first-date restaurant for daters who want to eat with a serious chef without the formal-restaurant overhead. The ceviche bar is a natural starting point, the shared-plate format rewards exploration, and Rodriguez's presence in the dining room provides unforced conversation.
