About La Mar by Gastón Acurio
La Mar by Gastón Acurio occupies the waterfront terrace of the Mandarin Oriental Miami on Brickell Key and is part of the broader Acurio group that operates La Mar restaurants in Lima, San Francisco, and Amsterdam. The Miami dining room opened in 2012 and has held its reputation as the city's flagship Peruvian restaurant since.
The menu is a near-complete survey of modern Peruvian cuisine: four ceviches (classic, nikkei, mixto, and a rotating creation), six tiraditos, the anticuchos programme on the grill, the signature arroz con mariscos, and the ritual-pisco-sour opening service. Dinners land $85-140 per person. The bar has the deepest pisco list in Miami with 75-plus labels.
The outdoor terrace seats approximately 140 with full Brickell Bay and downtown skyline views — the sunset table at 7pm is one of the most in-demand Miami reservations from November through April. Inside, the dining room is coastal-Peruvian-modern with high ceilings and a long ceviche bar visible from most tables.
Best Occasion Fit
La Mar makes a birthday feel like a destination. The Mandarin Oriental setting, the Brickell Bay sunset view, and the ceremony around the ceviche service give the evening a beginning, middle, and end that organise naturally around a celebration.
