About Ghee Indian Kitchen

Ghee Indian Kitchen opened in 2017 from chef Niven Patel, a South Florida native who farms the produce for his restaurants at Rancho Patel in Homestead. The original Dadeland location has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand since the Florida guide launched in 2022; a Design District sibling opened in 2020 with the same farm-to-table discipline.

The menu leans on regional Indian cooking — Patel's family is Gujarati — with seasonal produce changes driven directly by what the farm is harvesting. Signature dishes include the goat curry, the sea bass moilee, and the farm vegetable thali, which rewrites itself every two weeks. The bread programme is hand-rolled and serious.

The dining room is deliberately casual — bar seating at the front, banquettes along the walls, open kitchen — and the pricing is unusually honest for the quality: entrées average around $30 and a meal for two with cocktails rarely exceeds $150. The bar runs a strong Indian-inflected cocktail programme with tamarind, chili, and curry-leaf bitters as recurring ingredients.

Best Occasion Fit

Ghee is a first-date restaurant that communicates taste without trying. The Bib Gourmand, the farm-sourced ingredient discipline, and the genuinely honest pricing combine into a choice that reads confident rather than transactional. The Kendall location removes the Miami Beach crowd from the evening.
