Chef Victor Passalaqua transformed Elk Cove's dining into a genuine farm-to-fork destination on the Mendocino Coast. The kitchen grows its own vegetables, fruits, and herbs on the inn property, and forages for wild seafood and mushrooms in the surrounding landscape. The result is a menu rooted in what the season and the coast produce, prepared with the technical command that these ingredients deserve. Ocean panoramas from the dining room table are standard; the view changes with the weather and the light in ways that make the same table feel different on different evenings.

The setting does something particular that larger and more celebrated restaurants cannot replicate: it places you above the Pacific in an intimate room, with the sound of the ocean audible on still evenings and the cliffside vegetation visible through every window.
