The Room
Superchulo opened on Calle de Manuela Malasaña in 2017 — Malasaña's modern plant-forward neighbourhood casual. The dining room is dressed in colourful tile, dried-flower arrangements, brass and pale wood: a cheerful, casual register that suits the cuisine. The room seats 80 across the main floor and the patio.
Service is fast and warm. Booking one week ahead is sufficient outside summer weekends.
The Food
The kitchen runs plant-forward modern Spanish — buddha bowls, vegetable curries, seasonal salads, plant-based tapas — alongside a small fish and meat side menu. The signature is the colour-and-texture vegetable plate; the Sunday brunch is one of Malasaña's most-cited.
Wine list is small and natural-leaning. Cocktails run pomegranate-led with a serious gin programme.
Best Occasion Fit
First Date: Superchulo's casual room is the Malasaña first-date for the casual-confident diner. The food does the work; the bill is honest.
Solo Dining: The bar at Superchulo is one of Malasaña's better solo dining seats.
Team Dinner: Superchulo for a small team dinner is the Madrid casual alternative to the corporate rooms.
