About The Clove Club
The Clove Club has occupied the old council chamber of Shoreditch Town Hall since 2013 and has held one Michelin star continuously since 2014. Chef Isaac McHale's cooking is rooted in wild British produce — grouse, sea urchin, foraged herbs, aged-dairy work — and the restaurant has appeared on the World's 50 Best list more than a dozen times, peaking at #26.
The dining room is a single high-ceilinged space with the kitchen visible at the far end, white-tiled walls, and a counter at the front where solo diners and walk-ins can often find space. Service is technically Michelin-polished but socially informal — Shoreditch in temperament rather than Mayfair.
Tasting menus run around £175 with optional wine pairings that favour minimal-intervention producers and adventurous European regions. The bar at the front is a legitimate destination in its own right for pre-dinner drinks.
Best Occasion Fit
The Clove Club impresses clients who follow restaurants rather than hotels. It has been on the World's 50 Best list long enough that informed diners recognise the name, and the Shoreditch location reads as current London rather than old London. Good for birthdays and deal dinners where the guest appreciates being taken somewhere that isn't a Mayfair cliché.
