About Pyxida Fish Tavern
Pyxida occupies a prime granite-paved corner of Limassol Marina at 3601 Limassol Marina Street, with terrace seating directly on the water and one of the better sunset views in the city. It is the marina's flagship Cypriot fish tavern and the room most locals send visitors to for the seafood meze.
The format is à la carte, but the room is built around the fish meze — a sequence of fifteen-plus small plates running through grilled octopus, salt-cured anchovy, fried calamari, raw red mullet, sea bass, tarama, and on through the local catch for that day. Order it for the table and let the kitchen pace it. The wine list leans Cypriot whites — Xynisteri from the Tsangarides and Kyperounta producers, plus serious Greek and French support.
There is a sister Pyxida in Nicosia (the original, opened in the 1980s); the Limassol Marina branch has been the family's flagship since the marina opened in 2014. The kitchen sources fish daily from the Limassol port auction; everything is grilled or fried à la minute.
Service is warm and high-volume — this is a celebratory room, not a hushed one. The terrace seats roughly sixty, the indoor dining room another forty. Book for sunset (around 19:00 in summer); arrive early for an aperitif at the marina and walk over.
Why It's Perfect for Birthday
Pyxida is the celebratory Limassol birthday table — generous, wildly photogenic on the marina waterfront, and built around the seafood meze format that makes the celebration feel like a party rather than a dinner. The kitchen sends out fifteen-plus small plates of grilled, fried and raw fish; the staff are practised at coordinating a cake and candles; the granite waterfront setting under the Kanika quay does the rest.
