Ruffino's on the River occupies a two-level dining room at 921 Camellia Boulevard in Lafayette — set on the River Ranch development overlooking the working Vermilion River, with an outdoor patio that runs the full back of the building. The Lafayette location opened in 2014 as the flagship expansion of the Ruffin Rodrigue Baton Rouge institution that opened in 1998, and remains chef-owned and family-run. The dining room is deliberately bigger and more polished than the original Baton Rouge room: dark walnut and brass throughout, a working brass-rail front-bar that anchors the main floor, white-linen tables in three linked parlors that seat one hundred and twenty across the interior, and an outdoor terrace with sweeping views over the Vermilion River that adds another forty covers in good weather.

The kitchen runs Italian-steakhouse with deliberate Louisiana cross-over: a dry-aged USDA Prime programme as the standing centre, a working veal Marsala and chicken piccata that pay attention to the Italian-American canon, a Louisiana seafood card that runs through the Gulf year, and a working pasta programme made in-house. Signature plates include the dry-aged tomahawk-for-two carved tableside, a veal chop Milanese, a working seafood-tower opener for the celebration crowd, the chef's lobster-and-shrimp pasta, and a wedge salad that has held its place since opening. The wine list runs to about four hundred labels with deliberate Italian-region (Tuscany, Piedmont, Veneto), California-Cabernet, and Champagne depth.

Service is the older school of River Ranch celebration hospitality — career servers, captains at the larger tables, a working sommelier who can guide a real bottle conversation, weekend-evening live piano programming that builds the celebration energy, and a pace that treats a two-and-a-half hour dinner as the format rather than the exception. The outdoor terrace over the Vermilion River is the working birthday-and-proposal centre — sunset over the working river adds about twenty minutes to any reservation. The Camellia Boulevard address is five minutes from the airport and ten from downtown. For a Lafayette occasion that needs the room to do work — a milestone birthday, a serious anniversary, a visiting-family celebration — Ruffino's is the standing River Ranch answer.
