About Pod Różą

Pod Różą — 'Under the Rose' — occupies the principal dining room of Krakow's oldest hotel, a property that has stood on Floriańska, two minutes from the Main Square, since 1730. The dining room is one of the city's loveliest: a glass-roofed central courtyard built into the original 18th-century structure, with white linen, candle sconces, framed lithographs of historic Krakow on the walls, and a long wine cellar visible through a glass wall at the back.

The cooking is modern Polish executed at grand-hotel standard. A signature beef tartare prepared tableside with a quail-yolk service that has become the room's calling card. House-cured Vistula trout with horseradish-cream and dill oil. Slow-cooked Polish pork shoulder with red-cabbage and apple compote. The signature dessert — a sour-cherry-and-poppy-seed soufflé — must be ordered at the start of dinner. The vegetarian path is unusually well-considered for a grand-hotel kitchen.

The wine programme is broad, properly classical and well-priced — deep on French and Italian, a useful Hungarian Tokaji section, a serious Polish-wine programme, and an unusually well-considered by-the-glass list that handles a business dinner without forcing a full bottle. The cocktail programme is also serious — the property's bar, Cyrano de Bergerac, won Poland's national cocktail bar of the year in 2024.

Service is grand-hotel formal in the best sense — warm, technically excellent, multilingual. A four-course dinner with wine lands around 480 PLN per guest. Pod Różą is the room every Krakow business circle uses for a serious in-town deal dinner.

Why It's Perfect for Close a Deal

Pod Różą is the Krakow business-dinner room. The hotel's 1730 vintage and the glass-roofed dining-courtyard setting give the dinner the quiet gravity that closes deals; the cooking is technically excellent without being intimidating; the wine list flatters European clients; and the Cyrano cocktail bar two doors away is the perfect pre- or post-dinner gear-shift. Book a courtyard table and pre-order the soufflé.
