Zazen is a small Thai-Swiss-owned boutique resort on Bophut Beach, a five-minute drive from Fisherman's Village, and its beachfront restaurant has quietly held a reputation as one of the island's most consistent dining rooms for two decades. The kitchen is Thai-international — the Thai section is serious, the European section is confident and classical.
The menu signatures include Zazen's massaman curry (with a beef short rib slow-braised for twelve hours), a tom yum goong with river prawns that predates most of the island's current chefs, and the European side's schnitzel and rack of lamb. Desserts are classical European (a crème brûlée, a chocolate fondant) rather than Thai-tropical.
The setting is the advantage. The restaurant is directly on the Bophut sand — not on a hillside, not in a cliff-cantilevered eyrie, but a straightforward beach-dining room with candlelit tables and the Gulf of Thailand two metres from your shoes. The wine list is better than the price point suggests; the sommelier keeps a deep Italian range.
For business dinners, Zazen is the Bophut room that works — independent (not a mega-resort), conversational (noise level stays low), serious food (a client will not question the venue), and easy on spend. A twenty-minute walk along the beach after dinner reaches Fisherman's Village for a nightcap.
Why it fits Close a Deal
Close a Deal belongs here because Zazen runs at the right temperature for a business dinner — not a resort-spectacle, not a loud village room. The wine list, the Thai-plus-European menu, and the beach setting give the evening polish without performing. A deal gets done here.
